COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our commemorative ale honors Samson the elk. This is an oatmeal stout that is full-bodied with a wonderful roasted flavor and just a touch of sweetness. We use galena and goldings hops. Alc / vol 5 %

Very nice looking pour. Dark Dark brown color. A shimmering tan head that diminishes quickly. Roast barley aroma. First sip reminds of a sour mash stout I’ve had in the past. Thinner bodied than the pour suggested - tend to having very little complexity. Flavor primarily of roasted malt and sour dough bread. Finishes quite acidic and dry.

I’ve been jaded by Imperial stouts, but I’ll review this one the best I can... If you want a nice, low octane, clean tasting regular stout, this one will do the trick better than most.

upon opening, beer had an overwhelming aroma of alcohol...perhaps oxygen tempered that...but this is one great beer with a roasty flavor

Samson would be proud to have this wonderful dark, smooth brew in his name. Wish he could have had some of the spent grains to enjoy.

A very good cream stout with a good story behind the name. Easy to drink and not overpowering.

UPDATED: NOV 24, 2004 Deep and dark black-brown; thin, dark tan head. Has some chewiness to it, but it seems light on the tongue at times. Dark roast, bitter chocolate, and a nip of coffee. Bitter hops, kind of grassy and piney. A little bit of sourness and acidity as well. Not a bad stout, if you like ’em bitter and burnt.
