Ooh Samson. Perhaps he shook up all of the Estes Park bottles with is horns before they were shipped and that’s why most of my bottles have been mega gushers. This one he must have been kinder to since his picture is on there. Brown with a medium tan head that stick around for awhile. Aroma of sweet malt, molasses, a touch too sweet for my liking. Body id over carbonated so I guess he did shake it up a little and it’s sticky and astringent to boot. Sweet malt, caramel and molasses round out the flavors.

Roasted coffee nose. Black in color. A fairly bitter stout...ok, not bad. Notes: Pub visit during ’09 GABF

Pours dark brownish with thin tan head. Aroma has some notes of roast, toffee, some cocoa powder, coffee and espresso. Taste is nice and smooth but a bit weak, some espresso, roast, toffee, some caramel, slight chocolate, finishing slightly bitter. Went really well with a brownie, but by itself was fairly plain.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with no head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt and soy sauce. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of roasted malt, soy sauce, and lighter notes of chocolate. The body is light.

UPDATED: SEP 22, 2011 12 oz bottle. Pours a medium, lasting beige head over a clear dark brown (SRM 35) body.....nose is coffee, chocolate, with cereal...taste is coffee, chocolate, slightly sweet finish, with mild bitterness...mouth feel light, carbonation low. This meets the style, but is on the light end of the spectrum in complexity and feel. BJCP 7/3/12/4/6

Nearly black, creamy head. Chocolate, oats, roast aroma. Flavor is sweet chocolate, light molasses, roast. Creamy and good.

Bottle at Papsø. Pours pitch black with a small off white head. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and caramel. The flavour is liquorice, tobacco, coffee and hard roasted malt.

Bottle at Papsø’s - Thanks. Pitch black - white head. Sweet malty, milkey, vegetables, herbal, light hoppy, high malty, fruity, licorice. Plain.

Bottle at Papsø. Dark brown coloured with a small beige head. Roasted aroma of caramel and dark chocolate. Roasted flavour of caramel and dark chocolate with notes of hops. Roasted finish.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted dark malty and breadish. Dark malty, caramelish and slight toasted. Dark caramelish and roasted finish.

Bottled. Burgundy coloured. Dense light brown head. Aroma of roast, dust, chocolate, cocoa, Flavour of roast, sweetness, chocolate, cocoa and some fruits. Medium bodied. Dry roasty and chocolaty bitterness in the end.
