The Stanley inpsired the world’s bestselling novelist, Stephen King, to write his horror masterpiece, "The Shining," over 30 years ago. In 1996, he returned with Lakeside Productions to film the six-hour mini-series of "The Shining" for ABC television. On tap at the brewery. A nice creaminess to it, but it’s generally lacking. Not a lot to it really.

This pale ale poured a clear amber colour with a white, quickly dissipating head. To the nose there are scents of hops, corn, metal and grassy hops. First taste was slightly watery with flavours of corn, spice?, grassy hops and bread? Finish was lighgtly hoppy with corn and hop lingering. Better than I thought it would be.

Draft at the brewery. This was a "wet hopped" version per the signs in the brewery. Pours a thin short lived white head, over a slightly hazy gold (SRM 5) body....nose is light pine, citrus, light toffee/caramel....taste is pine, citrus, toffee/caramel, with a light honey floral tone...mouth feel on the light of medium, carbonation high. This is a fairly typical Pale Ale, although a bit light in both the hop and malt back bones. BJCP 7/3/12/4/6

Dark amber with an off white head. Aroma of grapefruit and pale malt. Flavor is malty with some citrus flavor. Medium-light body with very soft carbonation.

Bottle from Rocky Mountain Liquors, Estes Park, CO.
Pours an average cheddar orange with a nose of restrained hops that fade into sour bread and toast. Flavor is low-brow hops and grapefruit that melt into a soapy finish. Average mouthfeel. Stay in another hotel.
