10/10/2010. Sampled at the brewery. Copper color with a white head. Caramel aromas with light roasted malt and hops. Light caramel flavors with hops on the finish, but all very muted.

12 oz bottle as The Stanley Hotel Redrum Ale. Reddish-copper and clear appearance with a white head. Pretty bland aroma and flavor, a balance of bitter hops and caramel malts. Light thin body with a soft, dry feel and a bittersweet finish. Not their best offering.

Clear reddish to copper color, tan head. Sweet, malty, fruity scent. Sweet, malty taste. A bit fruity aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bitterness.

Aroma is hops and fruit. Pours orange with a frothy white head. Taste is sweet and fruity with some hops.

This ale poured a clear, dark red colour with a soapy head. Not very appealing to look at. Scents include pineapple, citrus hopps, slight ripe fruit and hard apple cider. First sip was watery. Very thin mouthfeel. flavours of ripe fruit, hopps and cider. Finish is hoppy with a slight bitterness on the tongue.

Tap at brewery. Amber pour. Caramel malt, hops, golden raisin aroma. Flavor is lightly bitter, lots of caramel malt.

The Stanley Hotel Redrum Ale - dark red-amber with a small head. Aroma of pale mal, bread and slight hops. Tastes slightly sweet with a dry hop finish. The big problem here is body. It’s fairly thin, and the carbonation is so low it looks and feels flat.

Tap at the brewpub. Reddish amber with a foamy beige head. Light roast caramel aroma. Light roast caramel flavor. Mildly bitter finish.

Bottled. Poured clear garnety-amber with a short cap of beige head. The aroma picked up semi-sweet, toasted darker fruits and caramel with touches of cardboard and cleanser.. not pleasant. The flavor was a little better, but the off notes remained at least in some capacity.. dry, toasted caramel and a little fruit again.. tacky with non-descript, non-pleasant bitterness on the finish. Lighter-bodied and dry on the palate.. not all that bitter, but what was there was sharp.. tasted like it might have been an old bottle.
