yarry (358), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada Jul 1, 2009 500ml can, 4.6% a/v
Pours very light straw gold, with a decent white head. Smells pretty "pilsnery", hoppy and light. The taste is pretty clean, though a bit lacking. A bit of noble hops kick in at the end, a decent summer beer to replace your corona with. Very clean, very clear, very nice. DerWeg (621), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 30, 2009 500 ml can pours a freaking niagara falls size noisy head that looks fake-beer and smells a bit solvent-y. but aroma blandly pleasant with a bit of sweet fruit. Looks very clear and pale. Tastes fairly clean and fresh with a late bitter noble-hop bite, and a good sweetness in the body that’s actually fairly nice. Would be a great beach beer. On the very late aftertaste is a bit dry and soapy, would not drink very many for this reason alone. Vertical Bacon Strips (581), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 28, 2009 Easy drinking is exactly what I was looking for tonight - this stuff reminds me of Castle From South Africa.
Poured out a large semi-foamy white cap with really good retention and excellent lacing throughout. Nice golden colour. Smells nice with soft citrus, a decent perfectly sweet malt base. Tastes also good, ya. Good biscuit malts that are well balanced with the sweetness and the slight lemony hops. Damn, I need to put this up against Castle (it’s been awhile since I’ve had that). Smooth mouth feel, goes down nice. Mild aftertaste. I could have drank this entire pint in a minute. Good summer drink! Boutip (2168), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Jun 26, 2009 Bottle: Poured a very pale yellow lager with a large pure white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of lightly sweet malt withs some notes of crisp hops. Taste is somewhat light with light malt with no distinctive notes of adjunct and some light dry hops presence. Body is about average with good carbonation. Not sure if I was more thirsty then usual but this did tasted not too bad. wheresthepath (443), Buckinghamshire, England Jun 25, 2009 [330ml bottle at Ivory Lounge, Reading at 4.6% ABV] Pours a slightly pallid gold but with a decent, lasting head. Slight lager-y aroma. Soft, pleasantly mouth-tingling carbonation. Decent citrus/lemon taste, with some biscuit-y malts behind. Slight bitterness and dryness in finish. As pale lagers go, this is certainly one of the least nasty - much better than I expected.
ChainGangGuy (2313), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Jun 18, 2009 11.2 ounce bottle - $1.49 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours a clear, lightly bubbly, golden body with a sudsy, white head.
Smell: Sweet-scented nose of cereal grains glazed with light corn syrup. Distant hint of grassy, spicy hops.
Taste: Sweet, light pale malts with, perhaps, a touch of grainy pils malt. Small child-sized handful of corn kernels. Touch of lemon. Spicy, grassy hops with an adequate amount of sharp, balancing bitterness. Faint hint of sulfur before the end. Finishes dry with a lingering grassiness.
Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium carbonation. Reasonably crisp.
Drinkability: Another basic, straight-up average lager, but from Barcelona, Spain and 0.8 less ounces, natch. SaintMatty (903), Tallinn, Estonia Jun 18, 2009 500ml Can (4.6%) - Golden in colour with a small white head. Grain and malt in the aroma with a hint of lemon and tea. Clean tasting and slightly sweet with malt and very little bitterness. Drinkable and refreshing, but lacking any real bite. Radek Kliber (3687), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada Jun 17, 2009 Can 500ml LCBO 4.6%
Appearance: bright pale gold of good share for pale lager. Pored large , frothy white top with some nice lace.4- Nose: slight sour grainy aroma , pale malts with hint of rice. Faint hop accents at late back. Flavor/Palate : Extremely thin bodied. I am amazed how empty pale lager can be made. Very little of malt in, strange soft texture as of unfiltered brew. Very little beer here. Great look is only first step.
