Single bottle purchased from Keg & Cork Wine & Spirits in Edmonton, AB on 07/22/2011. Colour: Medium yellow with minimal head. Nose: Some fighting yeast, sugar cane and pizza dough. Taste: Light sweet, medum-light bitter, light sour. A cardboard dominance that turns to sawdust. Mild traces of rising bread. For the most part - horrible.

500mL can from the LCBO. There was such a staggering amount of this stuff at the store I found it at, I was actually stunned. The LCBO must be one of Spain’s single biggest importers by now, I’m serious. Anyways this thing poured out a pale yellow with a large white fluff, looking highly carbonated. Upon first whiff I get a ton of TIN and metallic hops on top of some corn husks and adjuncty suspiciousness, as well as some wet-dog awfulness. The flavour is mercifully brief, an okay blend of corny malts and minor hoppy dryness, and salt? Weird. Quite fizzy and fleeting on the palate. The flavour is actually far superior to the weird and generally not pleasant aroma. Well I guess it’s somehow important that I got to try a Spanish beer, though I doubt this is the best the country has to offer.

Pours with a fizzy, white head covering a pale yelelow colored body. Not much aroma, but a bad, sour-salty taste. Pretty fizzy and not good.

Pours gold with white head. Smell is yeasty and malty. Taste is yeasty, sweet and malty with a very light bitterness. Mostly a sweet and yeasty pale lager, and not as crisp and dry as I like. Thin body and prickly carbonation. Drinkable, but there are pale lagers I like quite a bit better.

I drank this right after a Corona Extra so it may have unduly raised the rating for the Estrella. An O.K. euro pale lager. Large white head, good lacings, bitter finish.

En mycket enkel öl som är som bäst när den blir vid sin läst som törstsläckare. Som smakupplevelse är den något torftig med en späd, på gränsen till obefintlig, eftersmak. På en strand i ett somrigt Spanien däremot...
