2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 wyzzywyz22 (1474) - Wirral, - OCT 27, 2009
Draught, Ryders Bar. La Duquesa, Spain. Drank this to be polite after having been unwillingly bought a pint, surrounded by dodgy looking brits. As lagers go I suppose its not the worst. Not much of note happening in any department, but it falls into the just about drinkable category. Grainy with a dryish finish. The commercial description is pretty laughable really.

Clear, really pale yellow with a modest white head. There’s actually some lacing and a bit of head retention. Aroma of grain, corn flakes, grass and slight citrus. The taste is slightly citrusy and on the sweet side of the style, yet a touch bitter at the back of the palate. Light-medium bodied with no real skunk, finishes dry and a little bitter. All in all, pleasantly surprised at its decency.

Lager espanhola bem simples, refrescante e suave. Uma Lager sem muita personalidade, mas melhor do que as populares. Porém o custo-benefício não convém, por isso não dê muita importância para ela.

I ended up drinking this several times on a short visit to Barcelona this week. I’ve tasted many inferior macro beers but it is still a shame to see a large city of Barcelona’s class, so utterly dominated by one mediochre beer brand.

Bottle (330ml):
As I had anticipated, this one is very light on the nose with very little in the way of a noticeable aroma. There is however a faint grassy hops aroma and a slight bit of grain with hints of a skunky aroma. There is a light touch of citrus throughout although not a lot else.
Clear & pale looking yellow straw colour with a thin bubbly, white lacing for a head. This settles to a very fine lacing around the surface, mainly sticking to the circumference of the glass though.
Very much a lager here with the usual hops and a mild citrus flavour in the background. There is a sticky, sweetness towards the end and a bit of skunk too but again, not a lot else.
Quite light and smooth with a gassy, strongly carbonated feel to it. Not great on the palate, acceptable at best probably.
A pretty typical pale lager with not a lot going for it other than it goes down fairly easily. There is a skunky flavour lurking in the background throughout this beer and it wasn’t great although it wasn’t exactly offence on the taste buds either. Still not one that I would buy again though.

AROMA:some slight citrussy hops. and a hint of malt
APPEARANCE: pale yellow with a frosty white head
TASTE: slightly salty similar to tsing tao. Very light bitterness and malt characteristics
PALATE:thin bodied with good carbonation. head lasts, and laces.
OVERALL: a very generic lage beer better left on the shelf, or drank after a long jog for hydration. Just barely a beer.

Just poured it into my glass and I can already smell the skunk. Pours a clear light golden color with a thick white head. Aroma is your typical international lager style smell. Malts, hops, skunk, etc. Flavor is the same. Nothing impressive what so ever.
