12 oz bottle. A nice beer to start the evening off with, even if you’re not into plae lagers. Color is cloudy straw with a very short lived head. Taste isnt too bad though, some sour corn but then it seems to corret itself out or my palate got used to it. Nice use of malts, so it’s got that goin for it. Theres just a faint metalic taste but it’s worth overlooking.

Pretty average lager, but not too bad, had more of a bite to it than I would have thought it would. great on this refreshing California night, but not a beer I’d seek out.

ALLOVATE (2503) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JUN 18, 2005
Tasted from the bottle and poured into a tall stem glass. Clear medium gold with a ½" soapy white head that stuck around for the length and left a little web. Dry toasted chaff, sweet sugary malt and pasty hop aroma. A little biting carbonation upfront obscured things in it’s otherwise clean mouth feel. Grainy and sweet with a hint of bitter hops, it had an odd alcohol spice to it, hot and medicinal in the back that seemed in reasonable balance with the flavours. Finished off quite crisp and a little sour. Not bad, unlike the normal bland Pale lagers, but still a one dimensional beer that suits the summer months.

MGC under a smallish short lasting white sudsy head. Light sweet malts and faint flowery hop nose. Medium low carb soft palate. Lemonade and malt like sweet start fading quickly to a stale hop bitter with a touch of sweetness back at the end. Doesn’t come anywhere near the commercial description, more like the opposite. probably a fair beer in the mower stakes.

Just a very average lager. Fresh, malthy flavour. Avarage, but not bad. Actually nice to have in the sun :)

Darker gold than expected, puffy head. Sweet nose, lots of chemicals. Little flavor, and the flavor that’s there would be better served if it just took a walk and came back later. Sweet, then dies under a toxic wall of chemical garbage. This is what you get if you brew a beer with weed killer and you do a really, really bad job brewing it. Yecch.

Like Mulman, had this at a fancy tapas bar in Chicago where they talked it up and down. OK for a beer from Spain. Typical lager. It did go well with the food that we ate.

One of the better Mediterranean lagers. Certainly one of the best-looking. Poured pale gold with a 2cm head that showed good retention and actually laced. Aroma showed more hop character than is typical of the region, with some biscuity malt fading to wet cardboard and maize. Flavour is sweet initially, with lots of upfront malt and maize. Restrained finish. Of its style and region, this is pretty bloody good. Nice hop-malt balance. (330ml bottle, Randwick Cellars, best before Oct 05)

bottle, at a fancy tapas bar in NYC called ~n, where they think this is a special beer. pale yellow color, white foamy head and sudsy lacing. aroma is dead grass, metallic. flavor is dry straw, metallic. lots of carbonation.

I am going against the grain here by stating that I enjoyed this beer. I found it to be well presented in the glass as most beers tend to be but the nose and flavour were surprsing. Goodmaltiness and a real crispness that surpassses most of the Euro pale lagers. Subtly dry in the finish and the sort of beer that would be a welcome accompaniment to a barbecue or some fresh shellfish.
