Estrella is your typical European golden lager, on par with Heineken and its ilk. What I like about Estrella is the fact, that is seems to have a touch more color, body, and flavor than a typical Euro lager, and maybe it is just me willing this, but is seems to go very well with tapas. Estrella Galicia pours to a deep golden color with a thick and creamy white head and a good bit of carbonation. The nose on this beer has light aromas of grassy hop, and some crisp malt aroma. The plate on this beer is very crisp with good pilsner malt flavor, and a touch of sweet malt flavor. Estella Galicia finishes with more crisp malt up front, then ends slightly malty and grassy. This is an enjoyable Spanish lager that works very well with tapas. Much like I enjoy Tsingtao when I eat Chinese, I enjoy Estrella when I eat Spainish. I enjoy the fact that a Spanish beer is available to enjoy, with real Spanish food. I enjoy this beer with my tapas, rather than the domestics, Mexican, or other European imports. That and the fact, that Estrella, like Tsingtao, is actually a respectable tasting golden lager. If you ever find yourself at a Spanish tapas bar, Estrella Galicia is a good choice to match them with.

Pours with a four-finger white head that fades quickly to a ring but leaves a good lace. Clear pale amber color. Light=medium bodied and light carbonation. Slightly sweet nose. Taste has hints of an American macro but it is better - not skunky, still nothing special. Gift - 12oz bottle is available at the Vintage Cellar Blackburg, Va.

Never had a Spanish beer before. Bought it at a local package liquor store. Carton claims 5.5% alc. by volume. Pours clear, golden from bottle. I noticed a yeast residue in the bottom of the bottle. Good carbonation in the glass, but this extends to the mouth so it gave me the feel of champagne. All that carbonation should have resulted in good head formation, but there was hardly any with almost no lacing. I didn’t find this appealing. Aroma is slightly skunky, grassy. More aroma than I would have thought. Contains maize in the recipe according to the bottle, so its a bit thin tasting. Slight hoppiness in the aftertaste.

This bottled brew marked L0203 Dec 04 poured a medium sized head of frothy fine to medium sized mostly lasting white colored bubbles that left behind an unnoted lacing. The body contained average carbonation, was transparent and yellow orange in color. Its aroma contained notes of malty bready . Its mouth feel is initially tingly crisp clean with a slightly tingly mellow palate and a crisp clean aftertaste. Its flavor contained tingly mild astringent hop notes. An OK beer, but nothing special.

(Bottle 33 cl) Fully golden with a creamy, white head leaving pretty laces. Hoppy aroma. Lightly sweet malt with some rather unusual - considering it’s style - roasted notes. Rather good hopping. 011205

Bottle, at Goya Restaurant, Victoria, London. The second unexpected scoop of the day. Full gold colour. Pretty standard pale lager fare. Perhaps a little more flavour than some - touches of soft malt and a little bite. Not much aroma. Maybe some corny edges. Clean and quite refreshing. Iy may not be saying a lot, but one of the better Spanish lagers I’ve tried.

From a Beers of the World sampler box. Hazy golden beer with a thin white head that is quickly gone. Aroma is faint, primarily of cheap sweet malts. Flavor is not good. Its barely drinkable, but not happily so. Some bitterness which offsets the poor malt flavor. Sweet corn and adjunct flavors. Low carbonation, feels a little flat. While Spain produces some excellent wines and sherries, it’s a risky proposition drinking a beer brewed in Spain. This one is a loser. I couldnt even finish a single. Drain Pour.

UPDATED: SEP 17, 2007 Bottled. Compact and adherent foam, good persistence. Shining yellow color, much clear and bubbly. Light and watery scent, light alcohol and malty notes. Simple and pleasant taste. Determined and extended bitter on the end. Balanced even if lightly lean.

Estrella Galicia has very little to no aroma. The color is golden with a white head. The taste is slightly bitter but overall light with a weak finish.
