4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Style tasting with Shawn who provided the Éternelle, I brought the rest
1) La Face Cachée de la Pomme Neige Éternelle 2006
2) La Face Cachée de la Pomme Neige Ice Cider 2005
3) Domaine Pinnacle Cidre de Glace Ice Cider 2007
4) Etienne Dupont Cidre De Givre Eis Cider 2005
Hazy coppery hue that is unfiltered with heavy oily legs. The aroma has a big brown sugar tone, sappy, very earthy and woody, with slight funk creeping into play. The taste has a lot more sweetness than the other three and while I liked that when colder, upon warming up it got to be a bit too much. The apple flavor seems so much old growth here, more mature apple character. There is a light pungent mineral and clove note as well. The mouth feel is sticky and warming, this is the most unique of the four tasted. Drink this chilled, do not let it warm to room temps.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: APR 18, 2010 Tried 1)la face de la pomme neige eternelle 2006, 2) la face de la pomme neige 2005, 3) domaine pinnacle ice cider 2007, and 4) cidre de givre 2005 side by side by side....
1) was received from glouglouburp through trade- thanks dany. you da man. 2-4 graciously shared by bbb63- thanks mike! this was awesome.
1-3 are all very clear. 1 and 2 are a clear watery amber with 2 ever so slighly darker than 1. 3 was a clear golden yellow. no head. 4 poured a hazy murky pond water orange brown.
more important stuff
1) similar to 2. more earthy, less tart. found myself drinking this one the most. kept coming back to it. needed to get seconds of this. the earthiest of the 4. score: 4.1
2) deep sweet apple goodness. more tart than than 1. both are solid. more complex than 1. The tartness really gives a nice layer to this. tight. score: 4.5
3) Most subtle of the 4 and the least sweet. Think white grapes and white wine apple. score: 3.7
4) sweetest of the 4. stands out as being a lot different than the other three. a caramel candied apple sugar sweetness. nice. caramel, sweet aple crisp. The most different of the 4. a lot of candy and caramel notes that were more present than the others. some syrup and honey notes as well. good stuff. can see this going well with an apple stroodle (msp) or other apple dessert. score 4.1

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Au Verger de la Madeleine, Paris, 375ml, expensive (16€)
Vintage 2007, 2 years old, 7.2% ABV
It pours a dark amber color, hazy, flat. Aroma of apples, nuts, caramel. Strong body, even if less thick than other Ice Ciders, very sweet, with a distinctive late wood astringency and late acidity; flavor of overripe apples, caramel and some honey.
The caramel presence makes me think of a concentration obtained by boiling the cider, more than by freezing the apples; decent but not as fresh and fruity as the Canadian samples; nor it is as complex, but at least the astringency is original..

4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
2007 Vintage, waxed. Ripe, slightly overripe apple aroma, a little buttery. Opaque burnt orange. Medium bodied apple flavor with mounds of brown sugar that grow in intensity to a wonderfully complimentary climax. Musty undercurrents add to the intrigue. Nice lightly carbonated mouthfeel. Not excessively sweet or tart. Relatively low acidity for the style, which I find especially refreshing. This is so much better than my homemade ice cider. Very good and worth the premium price.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, bought @ HJ Hansen, Odense.
Pours a rather un-appetizing muddy pale brown. No head. Aroma has sweet, red apples and sweet caramel. No carbonation, good fat mouthfeel. Flavour is initially extremely sweet and cloying. Vinious, applejuice and very sweet. The aftertaste levels things out a bit, and is actually quite delicious. Red apple and a hint of liqourice. Interesting, but damn, that is sweet.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
375ml bottle. Pours flat with a lovely amber hue. Nose is brandy, wood and of course apples. Flavor is apple brandy with a little complexity from the apples but its lacking depth. Woody flavor with some light tartness up front. Finishes very sweet and with a full viscous body. A decent iced cider but there is definitely better out there.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle and the ABV on the label is 7.2%. Medium sized head and a transparent/slightly hazy orange brown body. The aroma is apples and caramel. The flavor is sweet, bitter, sour, tart, apples, and a dry finish. The mouthfeel is smooth, syrupy, sticky, dry and this is a medium bodied ice cider. Overall, easy to drink, not overly apple tasting IMO, not too sweet tasting, worthy of a try, and I would drink this again.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours a murky orange/brown with no head. Aroma of buttery apples, general sweetness. Flavor of sweet apples, vanilla, caramel, toffee, and oak. Very nice and sweet, easy drinking (for an ice cider). Excellent!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
This is fantastic- certainly the thickest, darkest, most opaque cider I have ever had. It smells like a an apple brandy and tastes like apple butter. Thick as a nectar and very cloudy, like a hot caramel- apple cider color. Fantastic vintage 2006 bottle from Knightly Spirits in Orlando, Florida.
