Sweet malt and molasses aroma..almost abrelywineish aroma really. Medium black. Again has that barleywine meatiness on the palate. Smooth milk chocolate and little else flavor wise.

Tap served in snifter at brewery. Pours with a very thick nitro head that likes to dance around. Head is a light chocolate color with the expected nitro retention. Smells of delicious roasted coffee and a slight chocolate, no detectable hops. The coffee and chocolate transfer over to the tongue but a bit more subdued than the aroma would suggest. The flavor and palate are both exceptionally smooth, one of the smoothest beers I’ve ever had. Has a good bold body with medium carbonation.

A nice thick aroma, but could be more defined. This is nice. A good grainy stout flavor that doesn’t taste like 10% (the new batch I assume) at all. Incredibly smooth finish.

Barrel Draught from the jug at the GABF, Colorado Convention Center 29/09/2005 Dark coloured and strong in alcohol. Crisp on the palate. Some chocolate and roast flavours in the finish.

[At GABF 2004] A red-brown beer with a disappearing brown head. The aroma is sweet and dominated by chocolate. While the flavor is much more complex with burnt notes combined with notes of chocolate, coffee, and wood on a slightly sour background. The end is quite dry.

GABF, Denver. This would have been a great porter. That’s about all I’ve got. Just imagine your favorite porter, and this would be it. This is stout as it would be defined in Liliput.

3fourths (6403) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - OCT 4, 2004
GABF 2004 - Dark brown color with some light passing through. Small tan head with no significant lacing noticed. Mild nose of tobacco, ash, wood and vegetables. Weird bourbon-type aromas as well that aren’t that good. Some hops are present in the finish, and overall this one is a simple wood/bourbon/coffee flavored stout. The texture is sticky and thick, which scores major points. Light alcohol presence.
