COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This rich dark ale with its complex range of flavors and exceptionally smooth finish is a true reward after a long day at the old grind. Ah porter...

Bottle split among friends into snifters. I was greeted with a finger worth of tan head that went away to nothing sitting on top of a typical porter black colored body. The aroma’s of roasted malts and some dark fruits came wafting in my nostrils’ . The flavor was exactly what I expect in a Porter mild roasted malts balanced out with just the right amount of sweetness. It only shortcoming was the mouthfeel was a little to light for me. I like my porters a little on the chewy side though. A good drinking brew and a ok porter. I wouldn’t turn it down

22oz bottle, purchased at Liquor Expo in Grenada. Pours a dark-cola color; fine-bubbled light-tan head with solid lacing. Modest aroma of caramel and brown sugar; rounded, ripe sweetness, though never quite fills one’s nose. Medium body; medium carbonation. Chewy caramel (I want to say "nougat," but I know better by now... or do I?), cola, and brown sugar; very malty, very light hop bitterness, restrained sweetness; nicely handled overall. Medium-length finish: balanced, roastier than the other parts, a nice roasted malt bitterness that leaves a slightly dry finish.

Bottle. Dark brown pour but not dense. Thin off white head that clings to the glass for a few minutes and then disappears. Sweet malt nose with chocolate and graham cracker. The taste is full, sweet, and roasty. Palate is medium to medium full. This reminds me a bit of the Anchor Porter and is way better than Sierra Nevada’s offering.

22 ounce bottle purchased at Liquor Barn in Redding, CA. Aroma is very sweet, chocolatey, and rather cloying. Lightly metallic, but mostly sweet chocolate. Mostly transparent ruby-amber body present with a decent off-white head. Moderately sweet, chocolatey start, before this becomes toasted, roasted, and dry in the middle. Some slight burnt popcorn notes come through later with some more roastiness. This seems like more of a brown ale than a porter. Ok.

22oz. Pours a medium-dark brown, slight brown/tan colored head with little retention. Smells of coffee, bit of malt and fruit sweetness. Coffee, slight fruit and malt flavors, very mellow flavor. Thin-medium body, smooth texture, medium-high-ish carbonation.

Bomber poured a clear dark brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, coffee, cocoa, light earthiness and light carmel. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of roasted malt, coffee, light cocoa and light carmel with a smooth roasty finish.

Some malt, otherwise no aroma. A lot of coffee in this porter. Light finish to it. Quite drinkable, almost session-like. Not overpowering in any aspect.

Bottle from Liquor Barn @ Redding. Aroma has a light molasses smell. Flavor is smoky and dry. Pours a black with light tan head. Not very carbonated, but this isn’t a bad thing per se. Roast and chocolate notes, along with a light body make this one pretty decent. Not great, but decent.

DTM (608) - Winters, California, USA - MAY 8, 2009
Bottle from the Liquor Barn in Redding, CA. Poured a dark brown color with coffee and carmel flavors. A little thin-bodied for my taste so I knocked down the rating just a little.

Bottle. Rich dark mahogony beer with a tan head. Light roast and chocolate aroma. Roasty, coffee, caramel flavor with some backing bitterness. Medium-plus bodied. Roast and chocolate lingers with some backing bitterness.
