COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The nose is filled with complex notes of figs, fruitcake, port, licorice, cherry, raisin chocolate, black toffee, coffee and caramel, while it tastes deliciously thick and chewy, with great complexity showing notes of fruits, coffee-roastiness, molasses, licorice, and toffee. This beer is a meal!
Editor's note. The draught version is 9% abv, but also contained under this listing. Edit #2 The bottles are now 9% as well (from 7%)

Looks non-too-impressive from the pour - almost like a pepsi, but with some minimal head and a more opaque body. Aroma is sweet and heavenly but subtle - caramel, prune, alcohol. Taste is sweet but with a bit of alcohol and bitterness striking oddly on the back of the tongue. Leaves a nice complex taste all around the mouth to savor. Palate is quite full, smooth and extremely wet - almost like a milkshake, okay not thaaat thick. Overall, a really lovely doppelbock - my favorite style! I could drink this anywhere, anytime and be happy as a clam.

Complex sweet and dark fruit aroma. Brown with amber highlights throughout and taupe head. Layers of dark fruit, caramel and malt. Toasty as well and has a velvety coat over the tongue. Booze is present in mid-palate.

Pour out of 22 oz bottle, thanks Aaron! Dark brownish black pour with off white head, aroma has notes of deep dark fruits, caramel toffee, hints of roast, slight chocolate and coffee, hints of slight earth notes as well. Taste is a nice mix of dark fruits, toffee, hints of biscuit, molasses, some slight yeast, finishing fairly sweet.

UPDATED: MAY 1, 2012 Tap @ Huber Haus Omaha. Pours a clear dark orangish brown appearance with a fluffy, tan head. Lots of sweet notes in the aroma including caramel, raisin, fig, port, and black cherries. Toasty dark caramel malty, chocolate, dark fruity, raisin, plum flavor with a lingering caramel, syrupy sweetness. Maybe a little too sweet for me but still tasty.

Smells of figs and raisens.. No head. Tastes like figs, and very dark caramel...almost tastes like earthy candies. Very dark brown, but not quite black. Flavor hides alcohol content amazingly. This is a solid beer.

The aroma is awesome! It has a port taste with hints of chocolate. Maybe one of the best aromas. Pours like ice tea with a bubbly head but rises eventually. The palate is very smooth and silky. Hate flavor is very complex.

On tap at the Malt House. Really look at the commercial description and it is spot on. I did not know anything about this one when I had it, but I loved the dark fruits blended with the toffee on this one. VERY nice surprise on this brew.

On tap at the Malt House - Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Nose is big fruity yeast with plums, raisins, and sweet honey bread sweetness. Taste is big sweet bread right away, then a blast of big dark fruit, transitioning into a honey/candi sugar sweetness. Big body with smooth carbonation. Wow...this was not what I was expecting with the fruitiness, but it was intriguing and a fun experience. Good stuff.

Smells like raisins to me. Amber-brown in color with an off-white head that settles. Sweet up front, raisiny, bready-malty in the middle with a nice hoppy-bitter finish.

On tap. Pours deep brown with a small light tan head. Aroma is very strong nutty, dark fruits, light roast, super malty, toffee. Flavor is much the same, so rich and malty all around, tons of that bready nutty character, lots of that dark fruit cake character, into a sweet and pound cake finish, very rich and a touch of cocoa. Medium full to full body and a soft carbonation. Good stuff
