4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Looks non-too-impressive from the pour - almost like a pepsi, but with some minimal head and a more opaque body. Aroma is sweet and heavenly but subtle - caramel, prune, alcohol. Taste is sweet but with a bit of alcohol and bitterness striking oddly on the back of the tongue. Leaves a nice complex taste all around the mouth to savor. Palate is quite full, smooth and extremely wet - almost like a milkshake, okay not thaaat thick. Overall, a really lovely doppelbock - my favorite style! I could drink this anywhere, anytime and be happy as a clam.

Slightly sweet doppelbock, dark brown/ruby with thin silky beige head. Aroma is mostly roast grains with a hint of molasses. Taste has the sweetness come on full bore, with dark grains sharing the palate. Sweet nature hides the high ABV. This is a real gem.

Had this at sushi babe with Vince. Good beer. This one is from Germany. Very deep plum color with malty flavor. Over 9% but not boozy at all.

smells just like description says it will pretty much! Taste it the same but a bit more of the beer side comes out on the backend. The taste is quite good, but the finish is bitter and roasted with licorice...heavy beer too...decent, but if it was a bit lighter and more smooth it would be better

On tap at Iron Abbey. Deep red color but zilch of a head. This is super sweet quite fruity although body is thin. There is a syrupy flavor to this although there is a spice here with a hint of alcohol. I’m almost wondering. The palate is surprising light for a 9% Dopplebock.

Pours a dark copper with a tan head. Aromas of candied fruits, toffee, and notes of coffee as well. Really complex. Flavors of roasted malts and molasses with notes of plum and fig on the finish. So much going on, the abv is slightly noticeable on the palate which was a little surprising as it is just 9% aside from that, a very respectable brew.

Birra natalizia. Buonissima.
