COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Unusually, it is know that a beer is made by brewing Pilsner in a monastery. No "common-Pils", but a hochvergorenes, light and sweet beer, which is striking for its fine hop flavor

Draught@Kaisla. Pale yellow color, small white head. Grainy, a bit buttery malty aroma with light grassy hops. Sweet malty flavor, fizzy carbonation. Like Seppo said ... some fruity pear notes, almost like drinking perry. Boring pale lager.

Golden color, slightly hazy. Two months past best before date. Sweet apple and vinegar aroma. Hoppy flavor with a slight smokiness and sweet apples. A-typical pils, also probably past its peak. Still decent and full of flavor.

Keg (Kaisla, Helsinki)
Vague sour almondy aroma. Pleasant carbonation, fairly watery palate. Soft malty body, some slightly emasculated hops. Slightly milky and a touch of almond. Not much finish, a bit of hops I guess. A little sticky, but does quench a thirst. Really not enough bite for a pils.

Bottle. Wheat malt aroma with hint of hops - noted sourness. Tan-yellow color with small head. Flowery hops and malt flavor - slightly on the sweet side. Decent body. Not bad, not great.

(Draught@Sailors) Very buttery-malty aroma with slightly harsh, grassy hoppiness. Butter also dominating the flavor, with pear-fruity hints and some grassy hops. Medium body, lowish carbonation. Quite sweet and basic, buttery pils.

This The DM & Hotstuff’s European Honeymoon trip beer number 85. This bottled brew from the Ettaler Monastery in Oberammergau Germany poured a large head of foamy fine to medium sized mostly lasting white colored bubbles that left behind a fair lacing. The body contained soft carbonation, was transparent and yellow in color. Its aroma contained notes of malt and was very mild. Its mouth feel is smooth with a slightly tingly palate and a malty aftertaste. Its flavor contained malty hoppy notes that favored the malts. A very average brew.

Shared this one with my friend Gyurke in Wiesbaden. Pours a bright gold amber color. Aromas fruit, floral, and malt. Flavor is malty, with a fine hop taste. Hop finish and aftertaste.

Bottle from the Ettaler Monastery in Oberammergau, Germany. White head, fair lacing, transparent, carbonated and a pale yellow hue. Weak malt aroma. Malt and lightly bitter flavor. Light bodied pilsener and very boring IMO.
