Hazy golden color, with big steady head. The aroma shows first fruity hops, then some citrusy resins, later it gets more into some kind of British earthy hop feeling. It has an explosive hop flavor, piney resiny, just supported by a medium body, and ending with a great hop and toffee final. Despite the not-so-high alcohol, a great beer.

Draught at Rogue Distillery & Public House, Portland. From notes (March 2010). The aroma hopping really comes through (90 IBU with a modest, light malt bill). Yellow and yellow. Very good, chewy body. Well-balanced through mid and final. The best of the Rogue stuff we had that day.

22oz - Hazed dark golden amber, creamy white head. Fresh peachy pine aromas and kisses of citrus ride a warming sweet malt backbone. Sharp up front sticky resiny bitterness balances on notes of grass. A light sweet malt rounds the hops out well. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, bitter finish. A well made West Coast IPA that hop heads should certainly seek out…

Shared bomber with CelticBrew, doboy, and Steve E. on 8/2/08. My friends (???!!!) urged me to hurry up and enter this rating today, so here goes.

Aroma - Big hoppy aroma of pine and spice as well as the obligatory citrus, honey and toffee trail behind as a reminder that at least some malt was used.

Appearance - Hazy orange pour with a large white head and copious, sticky lace.

Flavor - Grapefruit bitterness right off the bat, lingering as a veil over a base of honey like malt flavors.

Palate - Medium body and carbonation, resinous, very dry palate with a long satisfying finish.

Overall - A classic West Coast style IPA, and a very well done example.

Bottle. Very nice thick head and the retention was unbelievable. Beautiful golden orange color. A very solid mix of malt and hops on such a highly hopped beer. Light mouth feel with citrus/orange and grass. The hops linger very long, but in a strangely good way. This beer made me a true believer in ECB.

15/01/2009. Tap @ Hashigo Zake. Slightly hazy pale gold. Lovely balance of orangey hop and sweet pale malts. Big moreish hop flavour with a bitterness that grows but doesn’t come close to overpowering. Plenty of malt on the palate to carry the hops. Reminds me of Ninkasi Tricerahops but this one is very much an infant... if a dinosaur at all. I liked this beer a lot so I had a couple more, just to be sure.

UPDATED: APR 5, 2010 On tap at the Rogue place in San Francisco. Pours a slightly cloudy orange with a medium white head. A great nose; rich fresh citrus hops juicy. The flavor was great; a aggressive citrus hop, loads of caramel balance it out. Really well done.

Haxy golden orange. Big constant head. Fruity citrus and spicy aromas. Lenghty and explosive spicy, resinous hops. Zingy bitter finish to the end. Most enjoyable IPA.
