3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 GAManiac (1905) - Atlanta, USA - SEP 15, 2008
This one pours a translucent orange with a one-finger white head that lingers as a cap for quite a while leaving decent lacing. Citrus aroma dominate the smell with oranges, lemons and grapefruits throughout. The is a bit of caramel malts and a touch of pine in the nose as well. The taste has a bracing bitterness that I don’t often find in an APA with the citrus up front giving way to the malt background. It’s the pine hops that leave the big bitterness in the finish between sips. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and sticky with hops and has tons of carbonation. This is a great APA and very drinkable. Recommended.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 Brenhophead (217) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - APR 12, 2012
650mL bottle, pours golden with very little head that fades quickly.. not sure how old this bottle is. Caramel malts on the nose with a slight hint of citrus but i think the hop aroma has faded significantly with time. Carbonation is almost none existant so i might sink the rest of the and re review later.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 reebtogi (2178) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - FEB 18, 2012
650ml bottle pours a pale golden orangeish color with a finger of white head that leaves only small traces of lacing. Aroma is caramel and citrus and floral hops. Taste is caramel malty sweetness with some nice citrus hop bitterness in the finish. Light to medium body and soft carbonation. A nice and flavorful pale ale which was quite tasty.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Marsiblursi (2675) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JAN 25, 2012
(Bottle) Pours hazy orange amber with a medium sized white head. The aroma is near medium hoppy with notes of citrus/grapefruit and apricot alongside white bread-like malt. Hints of toast, packman yeast and a light woodsy sting. Quite typical pale ale nose. The flavour is medium hoppy and light to medium malty- Tiny sweet at first with a very dry finish. Lingering, massive bitterness. Tones of apricots, oranges, white bread and light tones of yeast. The mouthfeel is clean and creamy with a soft carbonation. Grapefruity and spicy ending. Light to medium bodied.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 5000 (4104) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - NOV 23, 2011
Bottle:   Pale oranish straw in color, very hazy, moderately sudsy white head, spotty lacing.
Combo hop and pale citrus rind on the nose.   Vibrant on the tongue, a little POW as you first take a sip.
&bnsp Malty for a Pale Ale. &Nbsp Not overly bitter, decent amount of citrus peel.   Body and mouthfeel are
moderate to full.   Little dank on the backsidel, likely because I sat on this for a while.   After all
thit time its still pretty tasty. &nbps I think this is an Arlan Harris beer.   Good stuff!   Bording on
IPA, but thats how I like my Pale Ales.   Robust, flavorful, with some good citrus peel aspects that many
Pales dont have.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 savnac (1478) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - JUN 24, 2011
On tap @ Rogue Public House, Portland. Clear amber with a tiny head. Mild aroma of citrus and caramel. Flavor is mostly sweet caramel malt with a medium hop bitterness. Light body with flat carbonation and a flabby mouth feel. I wasn’t too impressed with this, seemed old and was pretty much flat.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 maneliquor (1189) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - APR 8, 2011
Bottle from Mane Liquor. Fairly dissapointed with this one. Rogue has been great so far but this one let me down big time. Pours copper with a few white bubbles that quickly disappear leaving it with no head. Aroma is mediocre. Pale and sweet malts on the nose. Flavour is predominately sweet, caramel malts and nothing else. Boringgggg
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 JCB (3106) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - NOV 5, 2010
On tap at Rogue Brewpub, North Beach SF. Pale, faintly cloudy amber pour with a decently frothy head. Nose was really piney, fairly dry, with citrus rind. Body was very crisp but not overly carbonated. A bit of sweetness comes through in the flavor to give things some balance. But overall it’s a tad one dimensional, even if that dimension is enjoyable.
1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 JDBaker11058 (679) - Maryland, USA - OCT 31, 2010
Appearance: clear caramel with rich, lingering foamy head. Aroma: big citrus hops; some pine. Taste: bitter citrus and piney hops with a hint of sweet caramel malt. Finish: long and bitter. Notes: FWIW, I am not a pale ale fan. This seemed well put together, but I still didn’t like it. My fault, not theirs.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 KapitiCritique (319) - Kansas City, Missouri, USA - OCT 8, 2010
bottle at Hashigo Zake
Aroma: hops, butterscotch;
Appearance: misty apple juice, good lacing, nice thick head;
Taste: bitter, some sweetness, acidic;
Palate: full bodied; creamy, lively carbonation - fills the mouth, slight astringency;
Overall: expectations met and then some, not to waste on food but yes it would complement pork, chicken, and lightly spiced food and possibly hot spiced food.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 JoeinEscazú (1181) - San Jose, COSTA RICA - SEP 10, 2010
Brightly flavored pale ale, hazy golden-orange, moderate citrus nose with juicy hop flavor, finishing on the drier side. Very good.
