3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12/IX/2012 33cl bottle from Koelschip (Oostende) @ home - BB: VI/15 (2012-1020)
Very cloudy dark brown beer, lots of beige sediment floating around under a light beige aery head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: lots of dried fruits, alcohol (at 6.5%?), dark caramel, overripe fruits, sugary. MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: some (carbon?) sour first, milk chocolate, big sugary, some mocha, little bitter, alcohol, fruity hops. Aftertaste: chocolate, some mocha, dried fruits, little sour. Actually pretty good, but the alcohol is too noticeable for only a 6.5% beer.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle off the in laws. Deep ruby appearing black with a climbing beige foam. Huge sweet dried fruit aroma like caramel sauce festooned on fig, carob and sticky raisin studded malt loaf. Plainly not a stout but pleasant all the same. Enticing soggy malt loaf and sherry dipped fig suggestions wafted with soapy spice. Hints of unripe nectarine tartness in a slightly yeast-crazed finish. Carob, molasses and soy in the blender. A bit crude but decent.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Red-brown in colour with an off-white head. Aroma is of sugary malt, slightly roast. Taste is initially sweet, with a strong bitterness coming through. Rich, full body, chocolate and grain, with a dry finish. Overall, not bad. The bottle was a bit of a gusher, which was a shame.
