12/IX/2012 33cl bottle from Koelschip (Oostende) @ home - BB: VI/15 (2012-1020)

Very cloudy dark brown beer, lots of beige sediment floating around under a light beige aery head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: lots of dried fruits, alcohol (at 6.5%?), dark caramel, overripe fruits, sugary. MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: some (carbon?) sour first, milk chocolate, big sugary, some mocha, little bitter, alcohol, fruity hops. Aftertaste: chocolate, some mocha, dried fruits, little sour. Actually pretty good, but the alcohol is too noticeable for only a 6.5% beer.

Red-brown in colour with an off-white head. Aroma is of sugary malt, slightly roast. Taste is initially sweet, with a strong bitterness coming through. Rich, full body, chocolate and grain, with a dry finish. Overall, not bad. The bottle was a bit of a gusher, which was a shame.

Bottle, shared between myself and a cottage pie. Pours hazy brown with a medium tan head. Aroma of caramel and yeast. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with some light chocolate notes coming out in the palate. Medium bodied with light carbonation. A bit of a sugar bomb this one.

Belgian stout, so it’s very sweet and yeasty and lacks the roastedness. Not very good.

33cl bottle. Dark and heavily hazy brown with medium big, tanned head. NOSE : black chocolate and yeast. Cottage cheese and zest. Delicate coffee and burned toast aromas. SIP : Medium body with strong carbonation (quite unusual for this style). Creamy and fluffy while swallowed. The beer is moderatly sweet with dominating dry notes of cocoa and black chocolate. It get more dry further on. It leaves earthy and bitter flavors of cocoa with no sugar. OVERALL : well carbonated and quite dry it is a refreshing and yeasty stout. Not a bad one.
