Cask conditioned - handpump - JDW Daventry A hazy copper coloured beer with a tight white head. A fruity malty bitter which has more character in the mouth than in the nose. There’s an odd bit of banana in there. Drinkable though.

Amber color. Not aggressive Bitter (more an Amber Ale), with some residual sweetness and a light bread/cookie touch, yet balanced and easily drinkable.

Third pint glass from cask at Standing Order during Wetherspoons real ale festival 08. Clear Amber body with virtually no head. Aroma of late oranges. Blend of sweet, sappy fruits in flavour with shades of bitterness in the aftertaste. Worth repeating [Edinburgh, 13.11.2008].

Handpulled cask at JDW Hatch End, Harrow. Copper with good white head. Good rounded best bitter with fresh tasting ingredients. Earthy, dry hoppy finish.

A Mes rate: Cask at Baker Street ’Sporks.
Clean, lightish copper with a white film topping. Some really good citric hoppage in the aroma and some nutty malt and a bit of earth in the background. Good start. This is pretty tasty stuff. A great blend of earthy malt and grassy, aromatic hops. Hints of nuts and caramel add some interest but overall it’s just a straight down the line, really enjoyable bitter. An excellent hit of bitterness in the finish drys it out nicely and leaves me wanting more. Developing notes of dry grass round it off nicely. Lovely stuff.

UPDATED: DEC 9, 2008 Cask-conditioned at the Knights Templar, JDW, Bristol. The previous review sums this one up perfectly. Copper coloured, with plenty of chewy malts and a rough, rural edge. Drinkable though.

Cask at ’Spoons, Milton Keynes, in Wetherspoons Festival ’08. Copper amber with a white head. Slight sweetness in the aroma, but it’s mainly earthy. Taste is thick, malty and... well, muddy. Some bitterness. And it’s actually not too bad.
