A Mes rate: Cask at Baker Street ’Sporks.
Amber colour with a slim white head and plenty of lace. Sweet, tobacco nose. A rather odd combination. Reminds me of the smell of one of those shops that sells flavoured tobaccos. Very fruity flavour with some rather harsh hops. Strong bready note in the finish. Yet another Baker St. ’Sporks serving that was not on good form...

Cask handpull at Crosse Keys, JDW, London. Old gold colour with lasting beige head. Bit of odd coffee to this, some caramel, bit of diacetyl maybe. Very good condition, odd coffee cake flavour with walnuts makes this a very attractive beer to drink

Counting house at wetherspoons beer fest. Aroma is butter and fruity, slight grainy and clearly past its prime. Taste is similar bit of a dead watery mouthfeel, sort of passed me by and i moved onto some thign else.

Cask (handpump), Penderels Oak (JDW), Holborn. Amber colour, with a thin, incomplete head. Not served freezing cold here either - perhaps Spoons have changed their policy? Unfortunately the condition was not great - absolutely flat as a pancake, leading to a dull mouthfeel that detracted from what, otherwise, seemed a pretty decent and well-balanced best bitter. The aroma is quite restrained with a light malt character, even a little smoky. Nice light fruit and biscuity malt on the palate, underlain with a decent citric and tangy hop presence. Starts reasonably sweet but a drier bitterness develops on the finish and in the aftertaste. Shame about the dull mouthfeel.

Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Gold to amber with tight white head. Full flavoured hoppy bitter, most unlike the Welsh norm. Crisp, British type hops, reminding of autumn hedgerows with an oily grassiness. Fuller body and served in good nick, we no longer get freezing beer in our local Spoons. Very enjoyable.
