tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - DEC 8, 2011
Tasted this in the Esquire House, Glasgow (JDW) in August 2009. Cask, handpump dispense. Crystal clear pale copper in colour with a thin white head. Slightly sweet yeasty dough in the short aroma. Thin mouthfeel and poor lacing. Pale malt delivers a maltloaf base with fruity dates and soft brown sugar flavours. Harsh metallic tang of hop resins cuts through the aftertaste. Finish is sweet and malty with raisin fruit in evidence. Not as complex and robust as the abv suggests though.
