COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Anthony Martin and Willem Van Herreweghen, from Belgium’s John Martin’s Brewery, have travelled to Everards Brewery, in Leicestershire, to re-create a cask version of their hop-flowered ale, especially for this Wetherspoon real-ale festival. It is amber in colour, with a superb balance between the malty notes and abundant hop aromas and flavours, leading to a soft, bitter character, with a pleasing mouthfeel and lasting finish.

Retro review from Spring 2012 Wetherspoons Beer festival; amber colour, quite hoppy minimal bitterness not to bad.

Liberty Bell Spoons. Clear gold beer. Short white head. Light dry palate, smooth. Moderate carbonation. Light but pleasant hops - floral and very light tangerine. Slight sweet malt underneath. All very smooth and light.

Hand pulled pint in my local Spoons 14th March. The beer is a good amber colour with an off-white head which stays through the drink. A sweet aroma of caramel and toffee apples, the taste is more hoppy, but there is a sweetness to it also, very ’more-ish’ and extremely drinkable: just like the regular stronger bottled version I’m used to. Very nice beer.

Clear golden beer, small aery irregular white head, bit stable. Aroma: very faint, some grains, little sweet. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: grains, some caramel, little citrus, spices. Aftertaste: grains, sweet malts, little bitter. Nothing exciting. But hey, it’s Belgian! WTF...

Cask at the Pommeler’s Rest, amber with small head, but flat as a pancake. Otherwise quite pleasant, with notes of whisky casks, peach and floral hops.

Cask @ The Edward Wyllie JDW. Hazy amber brown colour, not much head. Mild resin malt aroma. Flat biscuit resin flavour, bitter aftertaste. A bit watery & bland.

Cask conditioned handpump Bankers Draft Bedford. A golden amber coloured beer with an off-white ring of bubbles. A fairly ordinary bitter beer. Yeasty and grassy notes in the nose. Bitterness is grassy. Ordinary.

Cask, William Wygston, Wigston. Amber with a firm white head. Aromas are bready yeast, wheat and caramel with stewed pear. Soft spices with nutty tea and floral notes. Flavours are nutty and peppery with weetabix malts. Earthy, leafy hops with Autumn fruits. Has a lot of Everards character. An easy drinker, just a bit bland.
