3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 jmgreenuk (22) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - MAY 5, 2012
Cask at the Star and Garter, South Wigston. Nice creamy head and loads of lacing. If there was ever a classic English bitter, this is it! It brings back all those memories of England's pleasant green pastures. Probably won't win too many awards but it's a great session beer for any time of the year. Slightly spicy malty taste with a lingering bitter aftertaste. It didn't really touch the back of my throat it must be said. So smooth that I think I'll have another!

Cask (handpump) @ JDW - The Manchester & County, 49 Piccadilly, Manchester, Greater Manchester, England M1 2AP.
Clear medium amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, sour malt notes, light yeasty, UK yeast. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat to soft. Just malty water, no aroma, thin flavor ! [20100425]

A Mes rate. Cask at Baker Street Sporks. Clean gold with a good white head. Good malt and hop balance. Maybe a tiny hint of diacetyl on the nose but it’s not spoiling it too much. Decent lemony bitterness in the finish. Slightly thin and watery with a faint metallic hint. Ok, just dull as hell.

12th April 2010. Clear amber beer. No head and no bloody carbonation! Grrr! Light semi dry palate. Light malt and light hops - I’m surprised this beer doesn’t float off like a bloddy Nimble balloon! Well balanced but utterly ephemeral beer. Some carbonation might have grounded this!

Cask at Southwark Tavern. Dark amber body with nose of malts, butter and honey. Taste of malts. Quite bitter. Buttery notes to it as well. Pretty good.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 DruncanVeasey (5150) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - APR 28, 2010
UPDATED: MAY 11, 2012 1)20sec rate (train to catch), The Last plantagenet, Leicester. Gold with a creamy white slick. Dried fruit aroma- sultanas, apple, slight earthiness. Signature sultana, creamy malt, apple at the edges. Clean and decent, good fruitiness at ABV, hay, just a little tweak of orange peel showing. Liked it, even after a fairly self-indulgent trawl around Sheffield.
2) The Shoes, Nuneaton, 07/05/12. Copper with a fine off white collar. Boiled egg undercurrents, vague leafy hop aroma. Watery elderflower and peach boiled sweets. Mealy, corn-based honey coated cereal finish. 353510.

Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Amber with a thin beige head; fruity aroma; sweet earthy malt flavour; and a finish that’s dry, biscuity, and lightly hopped. A basic, inoffensive, bitter, and better than most Everards brews I’ve tried.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 hughie (3993) - Bedford, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - APR 23, 2010
Cask at Bankers Draft (JDW), Bedford, in Spoons Real Ale Festival ’10. Copper with a small white head. Faint sweet malt aroma. Bready malt taste. Some bitterness. Nothing much wrong with this: it was well served, inoffensive, acceptable. But it somehow lacked memorable features, star quality... flourish.
