FatPhil (1853), Espoo, Finland May 20, 2008 Cask (Tram Depot, Cambridge)
Orange, loose head. Sweet fruity and malty aroma. Soft palate. Decent combination of both bitter and fruity hops, and pleasant sweet lightly roasted (caramalt?) body, with some nuttiness. Not that much of an old ale, not so far from just being a bitter. DruncanVeasey (1499), Burbage, Germany Apr 2, 2008 The Millstone, Barnack. Still and creamy. Dunked Twiglet, heady dried vine fruit, creamy malt nuttiness, varnished walnut, strudel-like boozy apple...the list goes on. Completely unexpectedly, one of the Beers Of The Weekend. And there were a few. Silky, complex, fruity and unusual. Magic_dave6 (3420), Glasgow, Scotland Nov 22, 2007 Cask 3 Judges, i recon i got the last out the cask of this. Hazy. Aroma was yeasty fruity esters, sweet and biscuity. Taste was bitter yeasty esters, which really put me off, quite hard to drink and i didnt finish it. MrRomero (1865), Wiesbaden-Biebrich, Germany Oct 31, 2007 Cask at the Cross Keys in Molesworth, UK: poured amber with a creamy off white head which left plenty of lacing throughout the drinking session. Light hops and a bit of maltiness. Much more flavorful than the bitter I had before this. Seemed to have a bit of butter in the aroma as well as the taste but that may be due to the bar itself. Decent. piscator34 (881), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Oct 24, 2007 cask @ The Famous Virgins and Castle, Kenilworth. Light amber in colour. Aromas are malt forward, along with a dark fruit component. Dark caramel malts dominate the flavor, with some plum/prune flavors mid sip. Dry biscuit finish, along with a faint floral note. Well executed, but a bit too malty and sweet for me to really enjoy.
