I've not had a pint of original for ages. Living in Leicester makes it kind of ubiquitous. It's a shame really cos it is a nice beer, not much wrong with it if it is a little boring. Easy to drink I think I still prefer Everards Beacon though. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pretty much clear amber to copper color, white to off-white head. Fruity, floral, malty, sweet, some caramel taste. Bitter, grainy, dry aftertaste. Medium to smooth mouthfeel. Medium bitterness, herbal and floral. Sweet, berry, fruity, esters scent.
Nice and very drinkable.

5th Sep 2012 and I’m in The Fighting Cocks, Oakengates: the only pub owned by the Ironbridge Brewery. Everards were involved with setting up this joint venture; hence their beers are always available in this pub. I had a hand-pulled pint in a straight UK sleeve glass. Amber bodied; with an off-white head. The nose and taste was a good mix of flavours: hoppy and malty at the same time, fruity hops, nutty malts with a semi-sweet start and a mildly-bitter finish, both to the smell and taste. I’d forgotten how good this was: not had a pint of this for years, I’ll try and rectify that a lttle more often now I’ve re-visited it.

A slightly fizzy pint with a foamy head that reduced to a thin film. Sweet but not overly so, a slightly bitter taste to balance it out. Refreshing but at 5.2% it’s not one I’d choose as a guzzler.
