tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - DEC 8, 2011
First tasted this in the Black Lion Hotel, Richmond in April 1991. Cask, handpump dispense. Dark copper red in colour with a thick creamy white head. Short note of burnt toffee in the nose. Thin but creamy mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts give a rich maltloaf base with syrupy dates and raisin fruit. This fades to give a drier note of liquorice in the mouth. Spicy hop resins add a pleasant bitter bite to the long aftertaste. Finish is dry with molasses and a hint of marnalade. An enjoyable ESB.

Benjii (2410) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - OCT 6, 2011
On cask at the Counting House in Glasgow. Pours a red - orange colour with a thin beige head. A little sour apple aroma with caramel and barley also. Similar flavours with a long musty lemon, hay and wet cardboard linger. A foamy mouth-feel and moderate bitterness. Mild carbonation with light CO2 prickle. Quite sharp and musty. Not sure if this is intentional?

Cooked veg - broad beans cabbages - along with grassiness. Spicy kick. End taste bittersweet, upper mouth citrus and some bitterness linger.

Cask handpump at The Wheatsheaf (I think) Edith Weston, Rutland 14.05.11 Copper in colour , I think, though I never described the colour. Malty tasty bitter, loads of toffee, bit chewy but bags of flavour. Nice bitterness, a good beer, really liked this , cannot believe I hadn’t rated it. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.5

SilkTork (4737) - Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom, WALES - JAN 7, 2010
JDW, Rochester. Autumn 09 Spoons Fest. O yes! This is my sort of beer - a sweet toffee malt with hops dancing all the way through - intertwined and varying all the time - an interchange of beauty. From intense malt to a hop burn on the last load.
