Commercial Description:
Cask: Regular.
Best Bitter
A true best bitter with plenty of body and flavor. The character of the ale, as with all Everards ales, is enhanced by the traditional technique of "Dry Hopping" - where whole, dry, aromatic hops are added by hand to each cask of the ale prior to conditioning. An ale which has almost universal appeal due to the exceptionally fine balance of English malt and hops. The finish is long, dry and extremely satisfying.

Cask at the Kean’s Head, Nottingham. I find Tiger to be a good example of a traditional English bitter. It’s a pleasing amber colour and has a very balanced flavour with grainy malt and subtle hops. It’s nothing to write home about, but it’s a perfectly serviceable session beer.

Cask, Philarmonic, Liverpool. A beautiful pub....the same can’t be said of this poor effort though. Muddy looking appearance. Insipid, bland and watery. Ill defined malt and not much else happening here. Couldn’t finish, just really boring.

Cask at GBBF08. Hazy dark copper colour. The flavour is fruity, a bit of raisin. Hint of rough hops. OK.

cask @ Anchor Inn Sidmouth. Copper colour, tiny head. Fruity nose. Fruity flavours with a good malty base and some nice hoppy flavours. Dry finish.

(Cask at Wenlock Arms, London, 8 Aug 2008) Dark amber colour with brief, off-white head. Malty, nutty nose with notes of dark fruit and roasted nuts. Malty, nutty taste with dried fruit and a fairly bittersweet finish. Decent bitter, but lacking something extra.

It was okay. Wouldn’t go out of my way for it now that I’ve tried it. The strong flavour that I got in my mouth and aftertaste is at odds with the ’mild’ description on the rest of the reviews, but it definitely stuck with me for a while. Not that pleasant. Head disappeared FAST.
