albertane (310), Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England Feb 16, 2008 Cask at the Kean’s Head, Nottingham. I find Tiger to be a good example of a traditional English bitter. It’s a pleasing amber colour and has a very balanced flavour with grainy malt and subtle hops. It’s nothing to write home about, but it’s a perfectly serviceable session beer.
wyzzywyz22 (453), Wirral, Merseyside, England Oct 4, 2008 Cask, Philarmonic, Liverpool. A beautiful pub....the same can’t be said of this poor effort though. Muddy looking appearance. Insipid, bland and watery. Ill defined malt and not much else happening here. Couldn’t finish, just really boring. MiP (6337), Flensburg, Germany Sep 9, 2008 Cask at GBBF08. Hazy dark copper colour. The flavour is fruity, a bit of raisin. Hint of rough hops. OK. Quack-Duck (1978), Bodensee, Germany Sep 1, 2008 cask @ Anchor Inn Sidmouth. Copper colour, tiny head. Fruity nose. Fruity flavours with a good malty base and some nice hoppy flavours. Dry finish. Svesse (1877), Hässelby, Sweden Aug 30, 2008 (Cask at Wenlock Arms, London, 8 Aug 2008) Dark amber colour with brief, off-white head. Malty, nutty nose with notes of dark fruit and roasted nuts. Malty, nutty taste with dried fruit and a fairly bittersweet finish. Decent bitter, but lacking something extra. shoestring (169), larkhall, Scotland Aug 26, 2008 It was okay. Wouldn’t go out of my way for it now that I’ve tried it. The strong flavour that I got in my mouth and aftertaste is at odds with the ’mild’ description on the rest of the reviews, but it definitely stuck with me for a while. Not that pleasant. Head disappeared FAST.
