COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark as the night, this beer is proving to be a crowd pleaser. Over 100 pounds of flaked oatmeal help round out this beer with a subtle smooth sweetness. Subtle hints of black current and roasted coffee round out the flavor. Hops produce a great balance to the aroma and flavor.

Dark color, almost black. Strong aroma of coffee and burnt bread. Coffee flavor, with just a hint of chocolate, and strong bitterness.

Draft at Cornbread Cafe, Eugene. Pours a medium-dark brown, decent amount of tan head. Aroma slight, oats and some roasty, biscuity overtones. Body medium-lively, some roasty spark, finish very smooth. Not going to blow the doors off, but a very quaffable beer.

Draught at Bar XV in Portland. Chocolate nose, but not much. Thick and dark. Somewhat harsh chocolate initial / smooth in mid and some coffee notes. Medium-heavy body. Thick, fairly tasty, not all that great. Served a little too cold.

Tap at Everybody’s Brewing, 24/05/13. Extremely dark mahogony brown with a thin tan head. Nose is roast malt, dark toffee, light cocoa, liqourice. Taste follows, light coffee, mineral notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light roasty finish. Solid enough stout.

Draft at uber. Pours nearly black with a scant tan head. Light drippy lace. Big coffee nose, dark and roasty and oily, actually a little overpowered. Tangy notes in there as well...not sure if that’s supposed to be there. Creamy medium body with soft carb. Roasty oily coffee mid palate. Surprised there is so much oatmeal in this; body is more slick than velvety. That might explain the tanginess, actually. Mild coffee finish.

Hints of coco clear black body. Smooth bit milky. Medium bodied. Bit of vanilla, sweet ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours black with a tan head. Smell is pretty much non existent. Taste is strong for a stout but pleasant. Overall not too bad.

MartinT (8024) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 2, 2011
My Bottom Line:
Coconut milk, vanilla and dark chocolate develop a personable flavor profile for this slender Stout.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the brown-edged darkness.
-A lingering cocoa flavor colours the aftertaste, alongside light roastiness.
-I appreciate the fact that this was not served on nitro.
-This was very drinkable throughout.
-Oatmeal adds comfort in the mouthfeel as well as complexity in the flavor profile.

On tap at Naked City.
