3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Can to glass, average creamy light brown head that rapidly diminished.Light aroma of bread, chocolate, coffee. Light to medium mouth feel a bit thin for a porter but a nice bitter finish. Vanilla on the start but rapidly falls away to coffee. At 4.8 alc this could be a good session if the sweetness doesn’t get in the way.

16 oz. can from Mishawaka brewpub pours black with some red around the edges. Small off-white head leaves some lacing spots. Aroma has vanilla and some chocolate, with a bit of coffee bitterness. Taste is bitter for a porter, with a long finish.. Body is light to medium without too much carbonation. Mouthfeel is creamy. Easy to drink, but not quite up to my expectations.

Pours a cola color. Thin off-white head.Malty sweet aroma. Lots of vanilla flavor. Tastes more like a Schwarzbier than a porter.

On tap at brewpub
Maybe this was a bad batch but I was not impressed by a faded impression of a porter. I am willing to give it a second chance since the rest of the lineup indicates this to be more of an aberration than a routine tap handle from Evil Czech.
Aroma / Appearance - An inky black base shimmers under a cream colored eggshell head. Light vanilla, coffee, and malts tickle the air without committing to anything serious. Charred ash lingers as an additional tease.
Flavor / Palate - A limp mouthfeel shows hints of promise without delivering. Simple vanilla and coffee taste more like a craft soda than a beer. This easy to drink beer fades quickly with nothing more than a forgettable impression. Skip this one or save it for the end of a flight once you’ve run out of other samples to try.

Draft. Poured a dark brown color with an average frothy tan head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted chocolate malt and vanilla aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Solid complex brew.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sample size on draft at the Mishawaka Public House. Pours dark brown with a thinner mocha head that leaves some spotty lace. Nose involves chocolate milk, dark crusty bread, some raisin notes. Somewhat sweet, fairly bitter. Light bodied, softly carbed, silky, with a tingly vanilla finish. Nice brew with a good flavor. I would like perhaps more body, but this is a session brew by design, and there’s nothing wrong with that. This should be a quite popular offering for them.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
tap at 800 degrees in February - Smells of coffee and sweet milk chocolate. It’s a near black brew with a very small head. The flavor is sweet with lots of chocolate. It’s medium bodied and finishes with roast coffee. I thought any bourbon character was quite subtle. Good brew.
