3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Poured dark brown, with a off white head that left a nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts and cocoa very nice. Taste is quite consistent malty, some chocolate and a very slight hint of spices. Very decent porter however I somehow I feel like I’m missing the flavors that prompted me to buy this beer: Pumpkin and Spice (since that’s what it says on the label); not bad overall.

Might be my favorite Evil Genius beer with the exception of Purple Monkey Dishwasher. This is a fantastic seasonal pumpkin brew that is not overbearing on either alcohol notes or pumpkin. Easy drinking flavorful brew that makes you want a second one.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Nose is actually pretty nice chocolate and peanut butter mix, maybe more like a smooth packaged hot cocoa with extra milk solids included (and no PB); spices are definitely not overplayed at this point. Pours very dark brown with a sudsy tan head. Taste semi-sweet with lots of smooth cocoa, just a touch of tartness and only slightly more bitterness, and can actually find a porter under everything -- spices are kept to the bare minimum and the result is a well-struck and repeatable balance. Body is a bit heavy though only medium-full, and there is an off acetone or band-aid character in the mouth, but generally a nice little porter with subtle seasonal treatment. Restraint always deserves praise.

12oz bottle from Xroads. Poured a medium density dark black with a smaller foamy light beige head. Aroma of marshmallow, vanilla, light cinnamon, chocolate, dark toast. Medium body with stronger fizzy carbonatoin that is distracting from the beer. Flavor of dark toast, light chocolate, vanilla, hint of pumpkin spices. This is pretty good wish the body was smoother.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Glass: Duvel tulip.
Appearance: Deep and opaque garnet through all but the edges. The head is short and quickly dissipates into a very thin light tan coating.
Aroma: The aroma smells exactly like putting a lot of cocoa powder into milk. Sweet and enticing, but no spices or depth.
Taste: Not as sweet as the aroma indicates, but definitely sweet. Varying layers of chocolate and cocoa powder make the flavor up from a slightly dark intro to syrupy Hershey’s to cocoa powder to a lightly roasty finish that’s semi-dry and quick. There’s a dash of cinnamon towards the end, but this would be best being labeled as a chocolate porter.
Palate: Medium bodied and moderately carbonated.
Overall: A bit rich but definitely a great desert beer without being cloying. It’s definitely bold though with the chocolate, any nod to pumpkin is almost completely lost.

2.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Drank from a twelve ounce bottle purchased at Wegmans. Aromas are not very good, smells of burnt chocolate and pumpkins. Similar taste, but tastes more like a roasted brown ale instead of a porter.
