3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle and served in small snifter: Pours a deep brown with ruby highlights topped by a fading head and spotty lace. The aroma has notes of light smoke, roast, walnuts, cardamom, clove, very light bubblegum and earthy belgian yeast character. Some herbal and resiny hop esters too. The taste is mildly smoky and earthy, some woody notes over a layer of toasted nuts. Hint of coffee and hop as well before a light non-deScript spice finish. The mouth feel is sort of watery and chalky, weakest part of brew IMO. It is not bad but not what it should have or could have been. One and done.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
March 31, 2013 - bottle as an extra from Dave. Dark brown pour with limited head that faded quickly. Aroma was smoky, roasted malt, hops and spice. Taste had the roasted malt and then a dry bitter finish. The smoke came in the aftertaste and comes out more as it warms. Medium bodied and some carbonation.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Black. Initially a dose of smoky roasted malts, some darker chocolate. After that, the familiar saison aromas of wheat and yeast come through. Body is med light, some sourness, not much. Saisony wheat, yeasty notes. Not that much of the darkness in the flavour (probably good so). Interesting experiment. I liking the nose more and more now.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a clean mahogany colour with a short lived off white head. The aroma is a bit of spice, some musk, lemon, smoke if your really try and smell it. The flavour is pretty much everything the aroma says its going to be, ends on a sort of bitter/sour note. I’m not to familiar with saisons, but I don’t get the sense that this is really anything ground breaking. Solid brew though.
