Super dark brown pour some tan head. Aroma of leather, soy sauce, lactic, caramel. Tastes leather, soy, sauce, smoke, raspberries, licorice, peas. Tangy feel and dry. Has aged well. Seek these out.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
P: Dark brown mahogany tinted cola appearance. A dainty layer of tan bubbly fast scattering head that recedes to a coral reef swirl on top.
S: Sweet hard candy and black malt. Smoked grains, burnt molasses, figs, hazelnut coffee, powdery earthy yeast pine and floral hops. Once warmed the aroma becomes similar to a grease trap at a fast food joint.
T/M: A cornucopia of earthy yeast, pine and floral hops flood the palate. A sensation of dust in my mouth. Lurking in the background rounding out the dryness are alcohol soaked figs, smoked grains and molasses with a bitter bite of coffee. The smoke really encompasses the back of the throat and surrounds the flavors slowly building it’s intensity to a profile similar to burnt marshmallows. Aggressive carbonation in a medium body. Finish is dry and smoky with subtle tart apple peel. The pine/floral hops are almost too much for this beer.
O: I love collaborations and this was a success in my book. Although not a terrific creation of the style. The smoke was delicate but intensified to really pull it all together. An interesting beer to say the least.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dry, sour, and burnt malt flavors dominate. The bartender at bambinos in queen anne said this collaboration was not well received. I could see that...I would not describe this dry and dark beer as a saison.

Poured from bottle to glass. Dark black with tan head. Aroma is estery, barnyard, pepper, earthy, sweet, slight smokiness. Mouthfeel is nice with a light body and good carbonation level. Taste is dry but slightly sweet initially with a dry slightly astringent bitterness following and a clean finish. Overall, this is ok...not as smoky as I would have expected and not as funky either...but a nice refreshing beer nonetheless.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark brown to black pour with a tan head. The aroma has some smoke and ash notes as well as some Belgian yeast. The flavor is similar. I get a lot of ashy and burnt wood notes as well as some heavily roasted malt, Belgian yeast and grass. Medium mouthfeel and high carbonation.

Bottle 0,355l @Beer Hunters
Dark amber-brown color, almost opaque. Tiny off-white head. Nose is very light - berries, some caramel, light tobacco. Medium-bodied. Caramel, licorice, toasted smoked ham flavor. Can’t find much Saison here. On paper better beer than in reality.

Found this at Bottleworks, bottled 26OCT12
Black with a light tan etch across the surface. Smells of earth, yeast, clay, some light smoke, some cocoa, and a touch of tobacco. Flavor is light, some oaky mesquite character earthy yeast and a little bit of alcohol and some bitterness. Medium body with light carb and a semi dry finish. Not really into it.

Bottle. Pours very dark brown with off-white head. Smells fruit, figs and raisins. Tastes very much like a saison mixed with a porter, almost has a slight bretty taste to it. Light to medium bodied, medium carbonation, smooth easy. Not much of a finish. A decent beer. Unique. Glad that I tried it, but not sure I’d get it again.

smells smoky and chocolaty with a nice fruity backbone. Dark black color with a hint of ruby. Nice thin tan head. Taste is wonderfully unique like a smoked ported mixed with great saison. Smokey yet light and fruity. I think this beer is great
