COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When two gypsies team up with an arrogant bastard, there is bound to be some criminal activity...better to view this project as a conspiracy rather than a collaboration. The strengths of all involved were utilized to break the laws of style guidelines...dark with deception, mysteriously smoked, unexplainably dry, and intriguingly hoppy...maybe it’s best not to even talk about it.

Bottle. Pours black with a small fizzy tan head . Nose is roasted malt, light spice, grass, and earth. Flavor shows more of the smoke, notes of cocoa, coffee, and a grassy bitterness. Mouthfeel is a little thin and for the brewers involved, this is slightly underwhelming.

Completely unique beer in my experience. Has the dry grassiness of a saison as well as smoke and roast. Body is much lighter than you would expect from those flavors. Dry finish.

Pours dark brown, almost black with a light tan head that quickly fades to lacing. Aroma of pine resin. Tastes of resin, smokey wood, coffee, and clove. Medium light body.

Bottle. Lots of interesting, distinct, but mismatched things going on here. Pours nearly black with a small tan head that leaves some sheeting. Aroma is that of a lightly smoked porter. Taste is sweet, citrus bitterness, grass, dark fruits, some vanilla, some spice, a long smoky finish. There’s a weird taste that I really can’t place, like a dry chili burn that is sitting in the back of my throat.

Confused and muddled, not really getting any ’home base’ feeling of any style. Looks fantastic though. Smells toasted and very slightly smoked malt, belgian yeast, some brown suggar sweetness. Tastes kind of like all that with no proper balance. However, regardless of all the negative factors, it was still an enjoyable beer

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run. Pours a dark brown color with a large brown head. Good head retention. Aroma of mild smoke, chocolate, nutty notes. The taste is stone fruits, mild roast, mild smoke, citrus and a hoppy finish. Interesting.

12 oz bottle purchased from New England Wine & Spirits. Poured nice & dark into a mini snifter. Nice light brown head & earthy nose. Fruity ester turns into clove & subtle malt flavor. Finishes a bit dry with a charred flavor that hangs.

Bottle... Poured dark brown, somewhat black, with a moderate, eggy/khaki head. Nose had some roast, super mild smoke, and a significant ashy character. Tasted of roast, chalky, cereal grains, a mild smoke tone with yeast esters and spice. Finished with some smoke. The smoke is there, it’s all over, but very faint and not in your face.

Bottle from Sam’s Quik Shop in Durham. Pours dark brown with reddish orange edges. Beige head. Nice lacing. Nose is slight smoke, charred malts bright peppery notes and some cloves. Smoke is subtle. Hoppy, but integrated into the flavor. Rye-like spice. Thin palate. This is good.
