COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When two gypsies team up with an arrogant bastard, there is bound to be some criminal activity...better to view this project as a conspiracy rather than a collaboration. The strengths of all involved were utilized to break the laws of style guidelines...dark with deception, mysteriously smoked, unexplainably dry, and intriguingly hoppy...maybe itís best not to even talk about it.

Bottle via SL. Light black in color... small head that faded fast. Nose is light toasted malts, slight smoke and some earthy spices. Taste is just mehhh. Light toasted malt, light smoke, spices, earthy. No one flavor standing out. Blended well together but kind of boring to me. Medium to high carbonation. Overall: Nothing to write home about. Kind of expected more with three big names brewing this together

Dark brown pour with a light tan head. Smells like a saison - some grass and subtle funkiness. The taste quickly turns bitter, almost like stale coffee. Interesting to try, but not my cup of beer.

Found this at Bottleworks, bottled 26OCT12 Black with a light tan etch across the surface. Smells of earth, yeast, clay, some light smoke, some cocoa, and a touch of tobacco. Flavor is light, some oaky mesquite character earthy yeast and a little bit of alcohol and some bitterness. Medium body with light carb and a semi dry finish. Not really into it.

Dark red/brown pour with a light brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, lemon, and a light smoke. Taste is lemon, roasted malt and the smoke, which comes out at the end. Roasted malt aftertaste. OK lacing.

Poured a deep brown color with a very low, filmy tan head. Aroma has a strong saison yeasty note, fruity with some light esters, mild earthy hops presence with a light citrus and pine kick coming in later. Flavor had a mild fruity note imparted by the yeast early, some toasted sweet caramel notes in the middle with some additional biscuit sneaking in. Brew finishes off with a smooth earthy hops presence and a pretty pronounced brown malt finale. Brew is overall pretty light with a mild alcohol presence and a bit lower carbonation that I would expect with a saison style. Overall a good brew but I completely missed the smoked part of the brew. The typical Stone emphasis on hops was in this brew but it really didnít add or detract from the brews overall presence. The lack of carbonation really killed it for me as I was expecting the typical saison fizzy feel. Probably my least favorite of the Stone Collaborative brews to date.

12oz bottle, a saison which is smoked and highly hopped? weirdness. Its like a black IPA used with Saison yeast and the smoked part gets stomped out by the hops, surprisingly okay with me.

Purchased at Binnyís in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home on a lazy Saturday afternoon while doing some errands. Appearance is a moderate, pitch black with a thin white head that laces to the glass. Aroma of smoke, chocolate, light yeast, also a touch of roasted malt. Taste is pretty good, definite smoke presence with a light yeast flavor, also a very light touch of fruit and hops. I donít know how to classify this one, doesnít really taste like a saison to me. Still pretty good.

No bottling information, one time brew.
Appearance: The body is an opaque black through the center with a dark brown barely visible through the light around the edges, thereís a thin tan head thatís puffy and soft looking, but it dissipates to a thin coating and a thin ring.
Aroma: The aroma is a light funk at first, some citrus and bubblegum, maybe a little hay, giving it a swirl reveals a light smoke and light spice.
Taste: The intro hints right away at light smoke with some earthy and lemon bitterness, thereís a light roasted taste throughout thatís paired with the smoke and a bright lemon dry finish hits with light spice. The finish lingers for a bit of slightly bitter cocoa and the smoke hangs around a bit.
Palate: A bit thin and light bodied, goes well with the style, the carbonation is a bit light, slightly fizzy.
Overall: I enjoy this beer, thereís a nice complexity to it, but it feels a bit thin throughout. The smoke is done well though with a good presence without being overbearing. I like this.

Bottle via beer world. Lovely sienna brown int he glass with athin head that settles to spotty foam momentarily. Intricate droopy lacing hangs about awhile. Nose of wet wood and yeast. If two gypsies team up with anyone there is bound to be a dog involved in the transaction. As fate would have it there was a dog in the beer store when I bought this. Smoky slate chalk body with a strong undertone of spices mixed with tangy yeast. Edge translucent otherwise dark as night. chalk finish.
