22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 3/24/2016. Pours dense pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense dark brown head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, fudge, toffee, caramel, molasses, toasted dark bread, raisin, plum, fig, date, licorice, smoke, wood, leather, tobacco, light char, and roast/smokey earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, fruity yeast, and moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, fudge, toffee, caramel, molasses, toasted dark bread, raisin, plum, fig, date, licorice, smoke, wood, leather, tobacco, light char, and roast/smokey earthiness. Moderate roast/char and herbal/spicy hop bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, fudge, toffee, caramel, molasses, toasted dark bread, dark fruit, licorice, smoke, wood, leather, char, and roast/smokey earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, fruity yeast, and moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and no astringent hop/roast flavors after the finish. Light dryness from roast/hop bitterness, increasing though the glass. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy/slick, and moderately sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is fairly well hidden with a light warmth lingering after the finish; with no booziness. Overall this is an outstanding imperial stout. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, fruity yeast, and moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

Oil black with tan head. Aroma is rich chocolate with some almond notes. Taste is the same, with beautiful cocoa and toast. Rich and sweet, but not cloying. Thanks, Dan! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Opaque, near black body with nearly a half inch of dense, beige head. If Evil Twin is involved, the stout will have a beautiful appearance. Roast and chocolate in the nose. Lovely. Terrific flavor. So rich and full. Silky on the palate. This, friends, is a world class imperial stout.

[8138-20160415] Tap. Mild nutty roasted malt aroma. Black cola body with a quick foamy off-white head. Roasted malt and nutty cola and sweet woody taffy chilies flavour. Full body. Good. (7/3/7/4/15) 3.6

[ keg ][ 4oz ][ @Bier Station ][ $4 ][ snifter ][ 06.04.16 ]

sepia with thin tan head, drops to oily ring. Stinging licorice sweet dirty nose, boozy with light oat elements. Boozy, inky front palate, light wheat and wood to balance but way sweet inky chocolate with licorice hints all through front and mid palate. Finishes creamy oat, still licorice and booze.

Bomber stashed behind the counter at Giant Eagle in Grandview. Bottled in March... so 2nd batch I guess: black pour, medium brown head that disappears quickly. nice aroma of chocolate, tobacco, molasses, dark fruit. tastes are rich cocoa, chocolate, roasted malts, light woody, faint smoke. finishes with coffee. palate is thin to medium slick oily. pretty drinkable for all that’s going on.

Batch 2 (10.5%), what pain this was to find on the site. Black pour, tan head, good lace/retention. Aroma is fairly textbook - roast, chocolate, caramel, light darker fruit, light licorice. Medium to full body, flavor matches aroma with a lightly sweet finish, oily mouthfeel. Good but forgettable.

On tap at El Bait Shop, batch #2 (10.5%). Black appearance with a light brown head. Aroma and flavor of dark fruit, esters, molasses, light chocolate malt and hints of coffee. Rich, sweet, smooth and creamy with a full body and a mild roasted bitterness towards the finish. Good.
