Huge robust imperial stout. Hits all the right notes for me. Big coffee, chocolate, and a nice lingering bitterness. Touch of alcohol on the backend, but not overpowering. Great beer

Thick black pour not much head at all, just brown bubbles creating a thin layer. Big sweet roasted aroma, chocolate, cocoa, dark fruit like figs and dates, caramel. Really nice! Taste follows the aroma well, nice rich chocolate upfront then comes the dark fruits, followed by a bit of alcohol warmth. Great thick mouthfeel. This feels the way a 12% stout should. Very impressive.

65 cl bottle @ home. Pours black with a tan head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma and flavour are chocolate, coffee, pepper, roasted malt, and liquorice - with a bitter finish.

Bomber from Appalachian Vintner, bottled 11/6/12. Pours an inky dark brown color with a thin frothy brown head. Fair head retention. Aroma of roast, chocolate, nuts, oats, tobacco leaves, mild marzipan and herbal hops. The taste is roast, nuts, chocolate, bitter hops. Medium bodied, low carbonation, lingering bitterness, moderate booze. Solid, no sign of oxidation.

FROTHINGSLOSH (4547) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 5, 2014
From the February 2014 3R6P tasting +++ Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured thick, black and oily with a large foamy dark brown head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was bitter and roasty with notes of coffee, wood, smoke and a bit of red wine. The flavor was bitter and roasty with moderately strong floral hops, wood, smoke and coffee. Long bitter finish of roasty malts and smoke. Thick and creamy body. Ok.

Rich robust and nutty with some cola, chocolate, and sweet grass. Really thick and chewy beer that is tough to drink quickly but coats the palate with lasting flavor.

Beer, very heavy and rich, tons of today with heavy roast, some old sweet flavor in there can’t call it

8oz pour at Smoke and Barrel. Pours an inky black with some spitty, white head. Nose is spot on for the style, toasted bread, molasses, some coffee grounds, roasted malt, some chocolate. Flavor had a bit more of a cherry twang than I expected, but again very true to style, roasty, toasty, sweet, chocolate, mild coffee. Full bodied finish. Straight up imperial stout.

Draught @ Smoke & Barrel, Washington. Very dark chestnut pour, hardly any head. Nose has sour fruit tones. Rich, boozy, flavour as you expect from a 12% stout, with some cherries popping up. Some sour as well, hop-dry finish. Well balanced and dangerously drinkable...

Pitch black, slow building head. Very rich beer, heavy on the bitter dark chocolate. Some anise. Rich but not overly sweet. Flavor lingers for a while.

Bottle. Nice head with good duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste are rich chocolate, roast malt, bitter hops, coffee and has a long bitter finish.
