4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle, 0.33l. Pours pitch black with large deep brown soapy head and fair lacing. Aroma of smoked sausage, leather, coffee and caramel. Taste starts with moderate sweet and rich roasted malt, follows heavy smoky with notes of chocolate and licorice, mouthfeel is warming alcoholic, while finish is moderate bitter. Full body, creamy texture and fizzy carbonation in palate. Holy smoke, what an evil brew...

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours very smoothly with a deep brown head. Quite possibly one of the darkest beers I’ve seen. Aroma of solid coffee notes with malty, darkly sweet aftertones. Bitter coffee-like taste followed quickly with dark sweet and almost campfire smoke. Full body with mild/moderate carbonation leads to a bitter finish. Doesn’t make my favorite shortlist, but certainly an excellent porter. Saved by good use of smoke flavor, not as overpowering as a lot out there.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Mørk med sykelig høyt brunt skum. Aromaen er mørk malt, sjokolade, humle og røyk. Smaken er sjokolade og noe røyksmak. Medium konsistens. Alt for mye kullsyre.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
(330ml bottle @ VilleValla Pub, Linköping, Feb 6 2015) Pours black with a big head of dark tan foam. Nose quite smoky and woody as expected with campfire and bacon, over top of a roasted malt base of unsweetened cacao. Sweeter on the palate with notes of roast coffee beans, chocolate and molasses augmenting the still-strong notes of burnt wood, ash and bacon. A pretty long and smoky finish as well, with some ashy roast and a bit of alcohol in the aftertaste. Fairly light bodied for the style with very high carb. The imperial stout/porter base flavours hold up the smoke pretty well but there is no denying that’s what it is all about. Good smoked beer if not quite my thing.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nice smokey porter. Aroma of roastiness and some smoke, quite smooth. One thing that bothers me is the huge amount of carbonation, for the rest it is pretty good.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
12oz bottle. Oily black pour with thick chunky head of dark tan head that quickly diminishes. Aoma is certainly smokey, but smoother than expected. There is also a rich malt supporting the smoke. Smooth, well blended flavors. Very nice.

33cl from Vinmonopolet, Aker brygge. Pours very dark brown with a beige head. Roasty aroma with moderate smoky notes, dark fruits, dark chocolate and hints of hops. Medium sweet with nice roasty and smoky flavours. Pleasant stuff, but milder than expected.
