COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
First came a toasted smug called Yin followed by a hoppy fella called Yang. Let me introduce you to Auld Yin – a wrinkly more experienced take on youngster Yin. 9 months in the company of an insightful, complex whiskey cask made a pretty interesting spin on this imperial tajii taste adventure. Aye!

Bottle at CP&K. It pours black, thin light tan head. The nose is salted liquorice, treacle, coffee liqueur, roasted malt and ash. The taste is roasted, charcoal, cherry, blackcurrant, liquorice, salted caramel, treacle, coffee liqueur, unami aspect, wood, whisky, with alcohol warmth in the finish. Full body and fine carbonation. Good stuff all round.

Bottle from Malt & Vine. Pours damn brown/black with a dark tan bubbly/creamy head. Aroma is oaky, but more vinous than bourbon. Light sour notes in the aroma. Full bodied. Flavor is dark fruit, oak, vanilla, but I can’t say bourbon, but surely not oversmoked single malt. It’s just very flavorful. Quite whiskey, tho what kind of whiskey? Maybe a light Canadian! Very flavorful in a medium whiskey way. Brilliant.

badlizard (5169) - Berkeley, California, USA - AUG 20, 2012
Bottle. Black with almost no head. Aroma of chocolate milk, doughnut (I know it’s strange, but it really does), whiskey, roasted grain, and oak. Thick velvety slightly oily full bodied palate. Tastes of chocolate, biscuit, lightly peaty scotch whiskey, leather, citrus, coffee, and oak with a nutty chocolate finish. Takes on a nice complexity as it warms. Very good.

beerbill (3047) - Laurel, New York, USA - AUG 19, 2012
11.2 oz. bottle. Pours black with a moderate brown head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left partial lace. Pleasant aroma of mocha, whiskey, malt, and brown sugar. The flavor is similar with the sweetness of the malt and the whiskey barrel even more intensified. Some roast in the flavor as well. The 12% abv is very well hidden. Rich and smooth on the palate. Delicious!

Pitch black with a thin tan head. The nose shows powerful aromatics of black and dark red fruit and some mocha. Full bodied and silky mouthfeel. The whiskey barrels add some oaky sweetness the finish brings in some salted caramel.
