Imperial Stout with Coffee Added On a pilgrimmage for immortal craft beer we tripped on these heavenly coffee beans -- threw them in and created damn good aromas, a thick fudge-like body, pitch black color and obviously only made it in limited amounts. And the taste.... furthermore Jesus!

Thick black pour, mocha head with a nice, glass coating appearance and some decent lacing. Aroma of smoke, coffee, burnt caramel, coffee and chocolate. Flavor has a slightly more oily, charred presence along with more coffee, booziness and a good helping of dark fruit and piney hops. Thick syrupy, creamy feel on entry, slightly drier, syrupy feel after that with a lightly chalky finish and light to medium strength slightly sharp carbonation. Good stuff, complex and flavorful, has a nice boozy warmth without tasting too boozy in the taste or smell and tons of roast, coffee and just the right amount of smoke and hops to keep it interesting. Tasty for sure, but at $9/12oz., not a repeat buy, cut that by 1/2 or 2/3 and I might think about it. Too many better beers for less.

I’m thinking this was last year’s batch because the coffee is pretty much gone. Aroma was fudge and a hint of licorice. Flavor’s like nose sweet upfront lingering bitterness and some Carbonic tang. A Little booze in the Finish. Excellent Imperial Stout.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized clear colored bubbles that were quickly diminishing and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque dark black brown colored body and a poor lacing. The nice aroma was brown malt roasted malt coffee and dark malt. The thick mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start mediumly tingly at the finish mild roasted malt aftertaste. The yummy flavor contained notes of roasted malt burnt malt brown malt and dark malt. A wonderful best in class brew.

Bottle, Wally’s, $7. Pours richly brown, with a dark, course head. Huge espresso, black coffee grounds, bitter chocolate, dirt nose. Flavor has doubleshot espresso upfront, layered in with dark chocolate, nougat, minerality, and a earthy breadiness. Alcohol well integrated at 12%. I liked this one colder since it tempered the intensity of this brew. A very rich, well-made coffee stout, even though the sheer power of this beer doesn’t demand more than one 12oz bottle.) 3.9.

355ml bottle @ Alex’s. Pours a deep dark black that is somewhat viscous. Nose is green peppers and roasty roast smoke. Flavour is quite bitter, ashtray, lightly sweetened.

Jet black color. Coffee aroma; to me, more like spent coffee than quality boutique coffee; chocolate, dark roast, cardboard. Smooth, full bodied, quite strong mouthfeel, strong roasted character; a bit of alcohol feeling in the end.
I don’t fancy coffee beers, otherwise this would be very good.

Pours black with an almost maroon head. Nose is roasted coffee, smoke, lots of smoke, chocolate. Taste is bitter black coffee, smoky, roasted beans, ash. This isn't bad, but it could've been a lot better with the smoke and char toned *waaaaaay* down. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aromas of dark roasted coffee, black coffee, roasted malt, coffee beans, dark chocolate, fudge, dark wort malt, toffee, toasted nuts and campfire ash. Pours black as night with intimidating alcohol legs. Taste brings intensely roast forward coffee, coffee beans, chocolate, harsh roasted black malts and pipe tobacco. Mid palate offers licorice, tree bark, slick black malt syrup, sweet burnt sugars and a slight cinnamon twang. Finishes smooth with residual coffee oils. Alcohol is ridiculously well masked. Overall, a great coffee stout with tons of roast and a bit on the sweeter side. Very well done.
