3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Thick black pour, mocha head with a nice, glass coating appearance and some decent lacing. Aroma of smoke, coffee, burnt caramel, coffee and chocolate. Flavor has a slightly more oily, charred presence along with more coffee, booziness and a good helping of dark fruit and piney hops. Thick syrupy, creamy feel on entry, slightly drier, syrupy feel after that with a lightly chalky finish and light to medium strength slightly sharp carbonation. Good stuff, complex and flavorful, has a nice boozy warmth without tasting too boozy in the taste or smell and tons of roast, coffee and just the right amount of smoke and hops to keep it interesting. Tasty for sure, but at $9/12oz., not a repeat buy, cut that by 1/2 or 2/3 and I might think about it. Too many better beers for less.

2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Very boozy and lots of freeze dried coffee character, smoky and meaty but really just a ashy mess. A waste of my money, over the line and entering a world of pain.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
cigar city large bubbled tan head atop jet black body. Harsh coffee nose, lightly ashy and spicy, hints of ethanol and tootsie roll, dirty yet straightforward. Front palate bites lightly with roast bitterness but remainder is sweet, mid palate muddled by excess sugar, moderate alcohol through the liquor finish, slick and silky body coating the tongue and perpetuating the heat.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours jet black with mocha head. Nose is dark bitter chocolate. Taste us toasty euro malt. Some alchy burn. Great stout but expect more "cafe".

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours an opaque black from the bottle with fluffy tan head that leaves good lacy rings. Aroma is bigger on the chocolate than the roasted malt and coffee, but nice balance, hint of booze. Taste is heavier on the coffee, but still nice cocoa notes. Booze is present in the burn on the way down, thick and viscous, soft carbonation. Nice nightcap.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Oily black pour with brown head. Aroma of cocoa, dark chocolate, and hint of coffee. Medium body, lively mouthfeel. Finish is bitter, taste has a bit of mustiness up front, but midpalate is nice and smooth. I get very little coffee, who knows how old this is.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle @ Avenue Pub. Deep onyx pour with a creamy mocha head that left some lacing inside the glass. Aroma of Starbucks, Ghirardelli, & Godiva. Cocoa dusted coffee beans, espresso, brownie batter, fudge, and vanilla. Sweet and decadent. Some caramel, toffee, and brown sugar present as well. Alcohol is dangerously invisible. This is a big beer in a little package! Delicious!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
11.2 oz. bottle, poured into my DT pink elephants snifter. Nice, stouty, opaque brown-black color with a thin espresso colored head with so-so retention, nice lacing. Nose is big and roasty, full of coffee beans, baker’s chocolate, brown sugar, hints of vanilla and raisins. Mouth is big and oily, dry roastiness up front quickly gives way to bittersweet cocoa, coffee, dark malt, some sootiness towards a pleasantly bitter finish. I don’t think it’s quite worthy of the $9.99 price tag (Binny’s) for a the amount in the bottle, but certainly a tasty stout.
