COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottled. A hazy red beer with a huge orangey head. The aroma has notes of caramel, malt, and hops. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of hops on a malty and caramel background and with the alcohol tickling the tongue. The finish is hoppy and quite bitter.

Bottled@Hilpeä Hauki, Helsinki. Amber colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is fruits, toffee, some wood and mild grassyness. Flavour is fruity and floral hops along with some toffee, wood, grass, herbs and also mild spicyness. Also the alcohol kicks in a bit once it warms up. Yet it’s quite pleasantly balanced.

Tämä nimihirviö muodostaa valkoisen vaahdon ja on oranssinen. Tuoksussa on hunajaa, hedelmiä ja aprikoosia. Katkera, hitusen makea ja hieman karkean makuinen.

Bottle 50 cl. Huge creamy light beige head that mostly lasted. Excellent display of lacework. Light cloudy golden / amber color. Aroma was initially sweet floral with a touch of fresh citrus. Then came light dusty corn and mild spice, hint of grapefruit and sweet peach. Over the palate came strong grapefruit, caramel, exotic fruit and a pinch of what felt like liquorish like notes. Full bodied with an average carbonation and bone dry texture. Heavy bitter flavor with some counter sweetness. Lingering bitter exotic citrus fruity dry finish. Nice one.

500 ml bottle @ Hilpeä Hauki, Helsinki.
Pours a clear reddish brown/copper colour with a foamy beige head. Aroma of strong tropical fruits, and some pine needles. Flavour of sweet fruits, grapefruit, and pine needles with hops and caramel malts. Medium bodied with a thick mouthfeel. Finish of smooth and hoppy with some alcohol. Quite good.

Pours brownish orange with a nice foamy head. Heavy malty aroma reminds me of barley wines. Taste is a bit sweet and malty. Nice hoppy finish.

Bottled from Bierkompass. Amber colored with medium white head. Aroma, caramel, grapefruit, flowers, spices. Taste, very spicy, again grapefruit, caramel, honey and resins. Nice complex beer. I don’t understand, why this beer is retired, when you can buy it from resellers.

Thanks again to Jeppe for sharing his brew. As he explained to us this is non-Christmas, Christmas beer, very clever...Pours dark gold with orange notes. A big off white head with good retention and lacing...The aroma is not the typical dipa as its balanced and not all alcohol or hops. A little malty with citrus notes and a hop finish. Alcohol is well hidden...The taste is more of a dipa with alcohol and hops coming more front and center, but still pretty balanced with some grapefruits and tangerines, a small pine resin finish. One of the best "Christmas" beers I’ve had, one of the best Euro IPA’s too. Still a bit to go before its a top ipa overall but I like that its not super alcoholic or resiny which lends to great drinkability. Worth trying for sure.

UPDATED: JUL 31, 2014 Aroma of grapefruit, lemon peel, hops, caramel and some peach. Taste of hops in front, grass, citrus, lime, peach leading to a dry bitter finish. I am a really big fan of christmas IPA/IIPA’s ..

Thanks to fonefan for this beer. This is a very nicely crafted double IPA. It pours beautifully. The flavor is nicely balanced between hops and malt. And, it’s tasty to drink!
