COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editor’s Note: Replaced by Imperial Biscotti Break, which has a separate listing. This first edition was a porter made with espresso, vanilla and toasted almonds for the Beer cruise Rome-Barcelona, June 2011. Brewed at Fanø Bryghus, Denmark, 7.5% ABV. Previous bottled and distributed batches were 8.4% ABV.

Italy has a certain “je ne sais quoi” – fab food culture, highly decadent history of art and cool countryside. Some might argue the people are loud and flamboyant, they steal our women, and their soccer players melodramatically flop on the pitch. Listen – that’s all part of the secret Italian ingredient – keep it cool, confident, arrogant and extravagant. Forza Italia!

Malt beverage with almonds, vanilla beans and coffee added.

Bottle at home. Total gusher! Emptied half of the bottle on the table. Pretty annoying when payed $20 for it. Well well. Was pretty sure that this was infected but not at all. Poured black with a medium tan head. The aroma is hard roasted malt, cocoa, coffee, liquorice and bitter hops. The flavour is bitter roasted malt, coffee, toasted caramel, chocolate and liquorice. The vanilla is ony slightly present but adds some depth to it. Its a very nice beer indeed. Too bad I payed the double of what I actually got.

Draft at special brews. Pours jet black with a gigantic and dense tan head that you could rest a quarter on...if not a stagecoach. Dense sheets of lace. Sweet almond coffee biscuit nose...nailed it. Creamy medium body, carb is a bit soft. Chocolate coffee and almonds on the mid palate with a long chocolate coffee finish. Beautiful.

Bottle, 75 cl: Black beer with a large short-lived beige head. The aroma has notes of mild coffee, roasted malt, vanilla and chocolate, quite fruity. The taste is sweet with medium bitterness. Creamy texture, soft carbonation. Long soft slightly bitter finish. An almost cake-like, very delicious porter. Can’t realy taste the almonds, though...

Slow, but continuing gusher.
Pours all black with a big, frothy, beige head. Aroma is sweet, almonds, milky chocolate, light caramel and roasted malts. High carbonation, fine dry and light creamy palate. Flavour is sweet, French nougat, coffee, chocolate, milky, fairly dry cocoa notes, almonds and hazelnuts. Long, lingering malty bitter finish with soft warming notes. Nice, but too bad about the carbonation.
