COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editors note: the first edition was brewed at Fanø Bryghus, Denmark for the Beer cruise Rome-Barcelona, June 2011 and held 7.5% ABV.

Porter made with espresso, vanilla and toasted almonds for the Beer cruise Rome-Barcelona, June 2011. Italy has a certain “je ne sais quoi” – fab food culture, highly decadent history of art and cool countryside. Some might argue the people are loud and flamboyant, they steal our women, and their soccer players melodramatically flop on the pitch. Listen – that’s all part of the secret Italian ingredient – keep it cool, confident, arrogant and extravagant. Forza Italia!
Malt beverage with almonds, vanilla beans and coffee added.

Nearly opaque black with a small, tan head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, light smoke, vanilla, toffee, nuts, and light alcohol. Taste of roasted malts, some smoke, vanilla cream, and cocoa. Thin, and overall pretty lame, like everything else I had from evil twin.

Draft at Capone’s. Poured turbid black with minimal tan head. Nose was roasty patent malt, cacao, hazelnut, vanilla. Tasted rich, complex, with the malt, cacao, nutty hazelnut/walnut, and vanilla working synergistically to make this one a nice surprise, and a delicious holiday beer.

Draught at Capone’s: Aroma of malt, chocolate, vanilla, coffee, chocolate syrup, and toasted almonds. Poured pitch black in color with a small, loose, brown head that greatly diminished but lasted throughout as a film on top of the beer, and more around the edges. Opaque. Not sparkling. Small lacing. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of cream, vanilla, malt, slight roasting, coffee, toasted almonds, and cocoa. Medium body. Lightly dry, slightly sticky texture. Soft carbonation. Malt, cocoa, cream, vanilla finish is lightly dry. 7.5%ABV is completely hidden throughout.

On the Fourth Day of Christmas 2011 the beer gods gave to me... one great porter - on tap at Capone’s. Pours a black color with a caramel colored head. Aroma of caramel, slight chocolate, slight coffee, with some esters of roast and earthiness. Has a sweet roasty taste with a nice bitter layer. Coffee notes are underneath. Very well-balanced. Damn tasty.

On the fourth day of Christmas 2011. Pours black with thin tan head. Aroma is faint smoke, dark chocolate and roasty coffee. Taste is sweet with a smooth and somewhat creamy mouthfeel. Overall this was excellent.

on tap in charleston SC, jet black, vanilla and toasty biscuit flavors, very roasty with a decent amount of sweetness. Delicious dessert-like finish.

On tap at local option... Pours a medium cola shaded hue, slightly transparent, and topped with a thin quickly dissipating medium tan head... Nutty, vanilla, and a bit if roasted malt, sweet through the middle... Thin lively mouthfeel with flavors centered around caramel, roast, sweetened vanilla, and a touch if nuttiness. Thin mouthfeel. Easy going. Carbonation a touch distracting and finish with a modicum of bitterness.

Draft at Churchills with James and Andrew. Electricity was off and i’m deep in to beer. Pours a pitch black with slight mocha head. Aroma is strong chocolate. Taste is smooth and very chocolatey. More dark chocolate than milk chocolate. Really nice and surprising.
