4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml. Opaque black with a lasting quarter inch of spongy espresso foam. Aroma truly does smell like toasty biscotti, with some vanilla and chocolate drizzled on top. Taste is the same, but has a good kick of espresso, char, and minty dark chocolate to provide some depth and balance. Medium-heavy body is to the sweet side and chewy but not sticky. Over-carbonated for my tastes. Has a nice touch of chest-warming alcohol as well. Pretty damn good dessert.

Big thanks to yourefragile for picking this one up. Served in a cervoise. Pours fairly-dark brown with a short off-white head. Decent retention. The nose carries some normal porter notes of roast and chocolate with a touch of coffee in the background. Not really getting any almond or vanilla. Pretty boring; nothing stands out. Flavor is similar. This is nowhere near the imperial version. Body has too much roast. Nothing to set this apart. A good porter, but nothing too special.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a pitch black beer with a beige head. The aroma is malt, roasted, coffee, chocolate, vanilla and nut. The flavor follows the nose with additional alcohol. The palate is sweetness with a high level of carbonation. Overall a good beer with way too much carbonation.

Bottle shared at a recent tasting generously hosted by hannont... A huge gusher that poured jet black with a thick, rocky, brown head that wouldn’t budge. Full bodied with dark malts that had roast, vanilla, and chocolate. Almond and coffee offered nice complexity while there was nice caramel sweet, roasty, alcoholic finish.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft @ When Pigs Fly... Pours a dark umber deep mahogany color with a rim of mocha foam. Rich aromas of Hersheys chocolate syrup, touches of vanilla so yeah a hot fudge sundae in a glass. Flavors are spot on sweet and delicious... a great finish after a meal for dessert with rich milk chocolate flavors with touches of the milky almond and vanilla bean. A bit of dark fruit comes through on the finish along with subtle booziness. Nice kinda wish it came with a whip cream head though : )

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draught at Capones on my beerunch trip with Caruso. Ok this is my second shot at reviewing this as I deleted my old review since it was compromised from an improperly sealed growler. This time around this one poured a thick oily pitch black body sitting under a dense dark beige foamy head. Aroma is phenomenal, a mixture hit chocolate, latte, vanilla and cake batter. Thick full creamy body with average carbonation and a smooth full finish. Flavor of high quality vanilla flavored chocolate, latte, espresso. This is one great beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared at Klooster, Delft. Black pour with crazy big beige head after a fairly excitable pour. Aroma of light chocolate, coffee and soy. Chocolate, vanilla, coffee and a little background soy. Body is medium to full and carbonation feels low after the initial explosion.
