COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editor’s Note: Replaced by Imperial Biscotti Break, which has a separate listing. This first edition was a porter made with espresso, vanilla and toasted almonds for the Beer cruise Rome-Barcelona, June 2011. Brewed at Fanø Bryghus, Denmark, 7.5% ABV. Previous bottled and distributed batches were 8.4% ABV.

Italy has a certain “je ne sais quoi” – fab food culture, highly decadent history of art and cool countryside. Some might argue the people are loud and flamboyant, they steal our women, and their soccer players melodramatically flop on the pitch. Listen – that’s all part of the secret Italian ingredient – keep it cool, confident, arrogant and extravagant. Forza Italia!

Malt beverage with almonds, vanilla beans and coffee added.

Bottle, shared with Bergen Beer Geek Tasting Crew. After buying this at Ølbutikken, Copenhagen, it feels really good to have Meilby bring it to the table, cheers man! :-) Pours a pitch black body with a huge beige creamy head. Sooo nice. Nose is almonds, biscuits, licorice, leather, coffee and hints of nuts and caramelized...caramel? :-P In any case, this is quite lovely. Taste is coffee, caramel, nuts, hints of buttery biscuits and ashes. Very nice. High carbonation, full body. A highly pleasant Italian-themed beer very far from most Italian crafts.

Decent brew, but it for sure misses someting extra, needs a small boost to get really a top-brew for me. Liked it, but wanted to like it more.

Bottle. Pours black/brown with a huge foamy brown head. a gusher that never ended. Aroma of chocolate, coffee and vanilla. flavor was sweet with chocolate, vanilla, coffee, roasted malts and notes of some smokiness. Silky smooth texture, medium body, dry finish.

Awesome beer. Smelled of baked goods, which I would say is a good thing considering it has ’biscotti’ in the title. Heavy drink with strong coffee, cake, and some bitter taste as well. I would say there was a bit of a vanilla flavor as well. Thoroughly enjoyed this. Would put it up there as one of the best that I have had.

Smell is a mix between dark roasted flavor and dark fruits, good mix and diverse flavors! Touch of vanilla, taste is smooth and of vanilla, touch of hot alcohol, bitter roasted finish...could be better

@ Havregatan 150117. Bottle (650 ml) fromSystembolaget. Roasted malty with lots of chocolate and vanilla, sweet, full body with an oily texture. The finish is dry, bittern roasted with chocolate. Really tasty!

On tap at pizzeria paradisio it is a dark brown with no head. The aroma is chocolate and the taste is a dark chocolate with some sweet molasses overtones

If you would like to smell & taste sweet chocolate, figs, nuts, boozy, molasses, go ahead this is your beer. Not really complex in mouthfeel, one dimensional sweet. No umami character, no lingering aftertaste. I don’t get the hype about this one. Not my cup of tea. Meh.

Pour is dark and thin head. Aroma of bread, nuts and fruit. Flavor is a bitter sweet nuttiness, sweet on the finish. Very smooth and drinkable. A style of its own. Interesting and worth tasting.

Aroma is very rich chocolate, mocha, espresso, fig and deep sweet malts. The taste is similar ;very very sweet and almost chewy mouthfeel that finishes with light bitterness. For 11.5% this is pretty smooth. Far too sweet for my liking. Appearance is a dark body with a beige head that retains fairly well.
