Bottle. No head on pour for this pitch black beer but developed a ring being carried from room to room. Smell of ruined hops. Taste of licorice, molasses, prunes, raisins, cherries, chocolate.

330 ml bottle into snifter, bottled in late 2014. Pours dense pitch black color with no head and a thin ring of bubbles. Minimal lacing. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, dark bread, fudge, raisin, prune, vanilla, toffee, oak, bourbon, and roast/oak earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and bourbon barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, dark bread, fudge, raisin, prune, leather, soy sauce, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, oak, smoke/char, and roast/oaky earthiness. Good amount of roast/charred bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, dark bread, fudge, raisin, prune, leather, soy sauce, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, oak, smoke/char, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt and bourbon barrel flavors; with a nice roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Minimal carbonation and very full bodied; with a very creamy, moderately slick, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is fairly well hidden with a light-moderate warming lingering after the finish; but it’s not boozy. Overall this is a fantastic barrel aged imperial stout. All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted malt and bourbon barrel flavors; and quite smooth to sip on for the big ABV and lacking carbonation. A highly enjoyable offering.

On tap at HOTB. Pours a dark brown black with no head. Aroma is vanilla, bacon?, smoke, cocoa powder, light dark fruits. Freakin awesome aroma. Taste is sweet with a slight bourbon heat. Thick mouthfeel. Goes down very smooth. Rivals BCBS.

11.2oz bottle in a tulip. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, bourbon and oak and booze, some chocolate and vanilla and light coffee, plus some hints of dark fruits. Flavor the same with a lot of booze. Thick texture. An unique beer but not that enjoyable because of the booziness.

Black pour with espresso creme like head. Aroma is coffee and whiskey. I am happy I chose this beer as my finisher. Taste explodes dark coffee, chocolate and coffee. I am warming up to stout beers, especially when they are balanced like this beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Wow, what the hell is with all the beers from this brewer? I think of the Michélin 3-star restaurants and they don’t even have a ménu, you just sit down and they serve you and you pay them three-hundred dollars. So it makes me suspicious when a brewer is crazy about so many editions of their beer, seriously, I honestly hope for simplicity. This pours absolutely jet-black with a brownish head, a great imperial porter pour if I ever did seen one. The aroma is bright fusel alcohol, lots of barley and alcohol, hopes and dreams but sadly no reality on the back end to make you want to believe it’s all four-real indeed in the drinking-scheme. The flavour is a lot of sweet malt, sweet barley, cherry flavour thanks to the high alcohol. A lot of major booze-ish barley mess that really isn’t balanced, isn’t where it should be. No nuance. Just a pile of over-alcoholized barley malt, and sure that’s okay but it’s not a symphony, it’s not a play put on by artists. And that, indeed, makes me sad.

33 cl bottle at Tørst. Pours pitch black with a small brown head. Aroma is smooth malty, caramelish and light vanille. Dense malty, caramelish and roasted. Smooth vanilla and bourbon. Light burning alcohol presence into the far finish.

Bottle. Big thanks to whichever Dad shared this bad boy at Torst... GT or Jay or J-Dad, I think. Pours near black with a beige head. Rich sweet malts and bourbon, lighter roasted malts, dark fruits, and wood. Big bourbon and wood and port wine in the finish. Solid.
