Big, chocolaty, roasty. Bigger body hides the abv with a plesant sweetness. A great treat, really want a bourbon barrel version!

A- pours a fluid opaque coffee brown with lighter cola brown edges and a faint medium tan head. No lacing. S- coffee, baker's chocolate, roasted malts, smoke, arid earth, chalk, anise, vegetal and grains. Light tangy cacao, wood and raisins in the back. M- medium oily body with a light to medium sticky, dry and sweet palate. Mild carbonation. T- coffee, dirt and chalk up front. Hops push through in the middle with the bitter sweet chocolate, and cacao. Entry into the long bitter end is slightly sweeter mocha. Cocoa powder makes up the bulk of the finish with warm spicy oak and more hop notes.

Black pour with a thin khaki head. The nose is syrupy and roasty with a bit of anise. Flavor is equally syrupy with some smoke and anise and molasses and black licorice...pretty much every stouty flavor except coffee and chocolate. Bit of a shame really. Thick and a wee bit syrupy boozy.

On tap at apex. A nugget of darkness. Aroma and taste of chocolate & coffee, but an odd hint of oyster in both. Smells of a bit of lactose also. Very nice dry wood finish.

12 oz bottle: pour is like crude oil with a dark khaki head. Aroma is strong is strong of coffee and dark chocolate with hints of dark fruits. Flavor is intense and loaded with chocolate. Chocolate covered raisin flavors up front morphing in to dark chocolate covered espresso beans. Intense, but balanced and drinkable.

Black body, spits sporadic lace around my glass. Aroma like whoa: rich, roasty malts; pungent chocolate; deeply roasted coffee. Boozy on the palate, bitter coffee, so dark and ominous.

Bottle. Pours a thick black color with a nice medium java colored head. Nose is heavy malt, chocolate, black licorice, and subtle espresso. Full of deep flavors which includes black licorice, smoke, alcohol and roasted malt. Finish is moderately long with some bitter sweetness. A very drinkable and likable imperial. Quaff Score 8 / 10
