Bottle from Belmont Station, Portland. De Molen version. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black, little to no tan head. Aroma coffee, chocolate, Cadbury Creme Eggs, maybe a twinge of roasted grain. Body medium-full, with a coffee-like bitterness in the finish, dissolving into a cacao type character. Maybe the slightest hint of oxidization. Not sure how old this actually is...

Bottle 33cl bought at Systembolaget. Dark brown to black liquid with a large non-white foam that quickly disappears. The aroma of leather, coffee beans and dark chocolate. The taste of leather, tar and coffee beans. Smooth mouthfeel with a slight alcohol taste with a distinct lasting flavor of dark roasted coffee

Botlle. Nose full of tobacco spit and loose leaf chewing snuff. Musty like dirty armpit. taste is slightly better but not by much. thick without flavor, sweet without effort, sticky without purpose.

33 cl. bottle poured in to a Snifter. Pitch black with a thin, tanned head. Sweet, roasted aroma with caramel, coffee, chocolate, liquorice, roasted, dark malts and herbal hops. Taste is bitter. Full body with a creamy texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes bitter and roasted with liquorice and chocolate. Neat Imperial Stout. However, I’m missing something that makes this beer extraordinary - that stands out from other Stouts.

Shared bottle, thanks a lot to cunningham! Poured pitch Black with a Nice mocha head. Dark chocolate, cacao powder, a lot of dark roasted malts, some dark fruits, coffee, not the best evil twin stout. But still good

Deep dark brown that looks oily black in glass. Time to oil my engine. Roasted malt in aroma like licorice, bit campfire, ash, some medicinal herbs, sweet , roasted and malty. Oily feel and bit sticky, full body, low carbonation, good roasting, long pure finish with coffee notes also. Lively, nuanced, good balance, pure flavor. One where I am happy it has a lingering finish. Well done !

Bottle from Systembolaget. Opaque black beer with a thick beige head. Lots of licorice in the aroma with roasted malts. Flavour is lots of licorice and toasted malts. Alcohol well hidden. Full bodied and well balanced.

esox (1110) - Oulu, FINLAND - APR 14, 2014
Bottled. Black, heavy beer with beige head. Salty liquorice and slightly smoky roastedness, dark caramel and cream toffee, milk chocolate and notes alcohol. Slightly harsh first sip has lots of alcohol and rather sharp and salty roastedness. Smoothens fast, finishes sweetish malty/caramelly and chocolate. Coffee beans resiny bitterness in the late finish. Velvety texture, perfectly carbonated. Maybe slightly thin aftertaste. Not the most complex IS but a nice beer anyways.

Bottled @ BeerTemple, medium sample. Dark color, just some brown lacing. Aroma of heavily roasted malts, some licorice, hint of coffee, charcoal, tar. Quite bitter from the malts, slight sweetness. Bit straightforward, focussing mainly on the dark malts. Ok.

330ml brown bottle. Black and opaque in the glass. Small tan head, no lacing. Nose has a pleasant hoppiness and some roast and chocolate. Taste has some roasted malts, chocolate, a bit toasty, late hoppiness. Bitter finish, roasty and hoppy aftertaste. Medium bodied, a little thinner than expected, carboantion is mild. Overall a solid impy stout.
