Black body, spits sporadic lace around my glass. Aroma like whoa: rich, roasty malts; pungent chocolate; deeply roasted coffee. Boozy on the palate, bitter coffee, so dark and ominous.

Bottle. Pours a thick black color with a nice medium java colored head. Nose is heavy malt, chocolate, black licorice, and subtle espresso. Full of deep flavors which includes black licorice, smoke, alcohol and roasted malt. Finish is moderately long with some bitter sweetness. A very drinkable and likable imperial. Quaff Score 8 / 10

Pours black with a brown head and aroma of alcohol, roasted malt, and chocolate. Taste is strong and burnt, roasted malt, chocolate, smoke, and licorice with warming alcohol, and burnt chocolate in the finish. Strong, flavorful stout

Bottle @ The BeerMongers... Poured jet black with a mild forming head. Significant amount of roast here with baker-like, charred, pasty characters and grains. Pretty nice drinking. Full, viscous mouthfeel, with a hint of coffee and a good amount of bitter-sweet dark chocolate/mocha. A very nice imperial stout that could get you through the colder months for sure.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy/fizzy, brown, mostly diminishing. Body is opaque black (flashlight tested). Aroma is moderately malty (chocolate, roasted grain, caramel, cake), with notes of alcohol, vanilla, leather / shoe polish, dark berries. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium to full body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, moderately to heavily alcoholic. Pretty good overall, but has a few problems. My least favorite part is the mouthfeel...kinda prickly carbonation, watery-syrupy, and quite burning. Not very elegant in that regard. The aroma is nice...a little mild and alcoholic, but it has the sort of characters I like in an Impy stout; not just choco-roast, there are nice leathery and berryish aromas in there too. Flavor balance is pretty good, albeit a little uncomfortably sweet (and the finishing bitterness just barely balances it). I dunno...it’s good, for sure, but it just seems a little rough and unpolished. I never once got excited about any of its qualities (first-pour opacity is admirable, though) throughout 30+ minutes of contemplation. It fulfills the needs of the style but doesn’t really rise above the mid 3s-tier examples. I liked Yin better.

Oily black pour with a 3 finger, dense, creamy, oily mocha brown head. Aroma is huge on roasted nuts, chocolate, mild coffee, earthy wood, smoke, roast, char, dark caramel and just a hint of herbal, floral hops. The fist sip starts of with tons of sweet milk chocolate, turning darker as it goes, lots of roasted nuts, dark coffee, dark caramel then the lightly bitter roast, char and burnt sugar kick in followed by earthiness. Finishes with cocoa and some grassy, floral, pine and herbal hop notes. Heavy body with a creamy to chewy entry, light, blanketing and slightly sharp carbonation, nice alcohol warmth without being overly boozy and a still creamy and chewy, but slightly char-dry finish. Really good stuff, probably something I will try again.

Bottle. Believe it or not I've had this and the naked lunch in the same week. A bit too coffee for me. I combined some if this with lindley park and made it better. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From 12oz bottle. Pours dark brown. Powerful coffee aroma. Tastes of coffee. Not bad, but a bit strong. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
