jbruner (2362) - Athens, Georgia, USA - OCT 18, 2014
Pours a deep black with hints of brown, nice tan lacy head. Aroma is booze on booze with hints of fruit and licorice. Taste is smoky intense roast with a big boozy licorice back end, hint of plum and muscadine. Booze is less on the mouth than nose, but still present. They make better stouts, but not bad.

Patrickctenchi (3837) - Coxs Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - OCT 14, 2014
Bottle: Oily black, with a magical dark tan head that appears from nothing and is gone again just as quickly. Aroma is smoky, oily coffee...roasty bitter dark chocolate. Flavour is ashy, roast chocolate/coffee malts....licorice. Dry...wonderful burned bitter throughout. Excellent.

rbrazell (1696) - Charleston, South Carolina, USA - OCT 8, 2014
Bottle from CBX. Black pour with a creamy brown head. Aroma of bitter dark chocolate, roasted malts, licorice, nuts and hints of dark fruits. Heavy roasted malts, dark fruits, nuttiness, licorice and a lot of bitterness throughout with a big dryness and medium heavy body. Not bad but definitely a winter sipper.

Bottle. Pours black with a nice lasting brown head. Aroma is of heavy roast malt, toasted malt, chocolate. The flavour is fairly sweet with a heavily roasted finish. Lots of molasses flavours, chocolate, and a strong bitterness. Body could be even fuller. Lovely.

Courtesy of Ron

Bottle: The aroma consists of big molasses, chocolate, tobacco, smoke, vanilla, cinnamon, and a hint of dark fruits. It pours a dark brown with some faint orange highlights. It has a large tan head that eventually fades to a thin film. The flavor starts with moderate milk chocolate, lighter molasses, and a touch of caramel. The finish has light-moderate roasted malt, light espresso, cinnamon, vanilla, and a touch of smoke. Its medium-full bodied with mild carbonation and a somewhat creamy mouthfeel.

UPDATED: SEP 29, 2014 Bottle: Thanks, Ron. Thick, black pour with a mocha foam that settles to a thin film & moderate collar. Nice aroma of heavily roasted coffee & burnt brown sugar, charred nuts, a touch of underlying sweet creaminess, & some deep, dark cocoa. A little thin on the mouth, possibly overcarbonated. Flavors of espresso, rich & roasted coffee beans, dark chocolate malt, dry cocoa bean, a touch of cream, toasted brown sugar, & plenty of lingering, residual sweetness. Nice transition from roasted to sweet by the finish. Nice.

"light in body for 10% but smooth as glass. chocolate, hops, roast, fairly sweet flavor. seems like this could very well be the base beer, or very similar to the base of Soft Dookie. Well done."

Yeah. Smells like tobacco spit and used motor oil. Skoal Classic Long Cut, to be exact. Oily and slick. Taste is semi dry and lightly bitter. Pretty well attenuated and unadulterated. Flavors of cigarette butts, tar, black patent malt. Heavily roasted. Slightly minty. Very, very well executed. This is a world class beer.
