(Draught at Fermentoren, Copenhagen, 25 Jan 2013) Black colour with brief, brown head. Malty, roasted nose with dark chocolate, cacao, coffee and liquorice. Malty, roasted taste with notes of dark chocolate, cacao, espresso, vanilla and a full-flavoured finish with a certain sweetness and a generous roasted bitterness. Full body, with some sweetness. Quite well balanced and very tasty. Very nice.

The great aroma of this beer includes honey, nuts and roasted malt. Taste is a great balance between sweet and bitter with the smokedness as the central element. Beer is black with a thick head, which disappears quite fast, though.

Thx! to Antoine. Tasting glass draft @ Delirium Hoppy Loft. Evil Twin’s oddly named RIS. Black with a mocha film head. Bitter roast, roasted coffee beans blended with some sweetness underneath, sweet chocolate & mocha. Taste is noticeable bitter roast, standard, coffee grounds going over into a mocha, coffee & some milk chocolate sweetness going behind it, almost touch of cream in the back, some caramel. Medium, touch creamy body. Technical proficient, not shockingly different but does get the job done :)

Pitch black with a ton of head to start, dissipated quikly. Aroma is chocolate, molasses, vanilla, booze, roasty malt, tobacco, and rather sweet. Flavor is slightly bitter, coffee, dark chocolate. Finishes extra dry. Alcohol is nicely hidden and doesn’t come across like it does in the nose. Carbonation is rather lively, and helps release the flavor and perhaps hide the alcohol. This is a very nice brew.

Draft @ Hoppy Loft. Noire foncée, col crémeux café au lait, doré au verre. Arôme malté, chocolaté est profond et dominant, caramel le tout étant bien prenant avec ce bouquet grains et juste un soupçon d’amertume. Palais est épais le tout mettant l’accent sur la malté, et le chocolat, léger grillé et torréfié. Grains tirant sur un côté brûlés. Houblonné moyen pour une brève amertume. Fini reste dans le même style, une stout bien forte complexe surtout au niveau chocolat sur pointe de café et d’amertume venant juste titiller la fin de bouche.

Flaske fra Ølbutikken: Brunsvart med højt og tett sjokoladebrunt skum, smaker som hjemmelaget sjokoladepudding! Når jeg er forbi skummet fylles munnen av mørk sjokolade, lakris, god kaffe og vanlije, perfekt balansert av humle. Vitaminene merkes også, men mest når de treffer de nedre regioner. Stor munnfylde og behagelig karbonering. Smooth as silk. Jøje meg, ikke rart ha kaller seg the Evil Twin - Mikkeller har en verdig konkurrent i sin tvillingbror. Dette er stor bryggerikunst.

Dark brown, almost black with rich stable light brown foam. Intenese rich stout taste with chockolade and even coffee notes.

from Erzbierschof - black beer with no head retention; aroma of roasted chocolate, cacao and black cherries; full-bodied and with a light acidity/sourness; some earthy maltiness and more chocolatey tones; respectable bitterness; hints of cacao and tar - the exagerated carbonation from the previous version is away but this is far less complex

A - Dark brown-black with a big finger of frothy chocolate colored head. Fades slowly. S - Dark chocolate malts, molasses, black licorice, touch of coffee, vanilla, earthy hops, and a bit of booze. T - Dark chocolate malts, molasses, black licorice, roasted coffee, a bit of dark fruit, vanilla, some earthy hops and a bit of bitterness, and a bit of booze. M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth and a bit creamy with a sweet and warming finish. D - Nice smooth imperial stout. Great mouthfeel and overall balance.
