4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
090616. The makeup of this beer is almost as heavy and deep as the name of the beer, certainly one of the more unusual beer names going around at the moment. Not that this should surprise anyone. When I had this beer that I bought from Beer Cartel it wasn’t Christmas Eve, I wasn’t in New York and I wasn’t in a hotel room - not that any of that stopped me from enjoying this beer immensely.
This is a beer that is big in every sense of the word, big deep black colour that reflects the light back at you, big dark chocolate and coffee aromas that fill your nose, big flavours of coffee beans, cocoa and vanilla and a big hit of alcohol - like I said - big.
The thickness of this beer leaves a coating along the roof of your mouth and the flavour secrets itself into every pore of your mouth. A deep dense black colour with a thin line of tan foam this beer sits there and almost dares you to drink it. Enjoyable from the first sip to the last.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle 33cl, a dark beer with medium copper head, nose is very nice on dark chocolate and creamy notes. As ever with Evil Twin, his imperial stout are properly done, each time tasty, clear dark chocolate notes, creamy mouse feel, licorice, roasted finish. In the "More Jesus" direction, excellent stuff, just nice and robust.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
33cl bottle. Pitch black pour with a medium height tan head with modest retention. Notes of dark chocolate, roasted malts, some dark cherries, molasses and licorice. The alcohol could be a bit more hidden, but otherwise this is a solid beer, smooth mouthfeel, full bodied and with a chocolate bitter-sweet taste.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
355 ML bottle
Pours dark cola color and settles black, with some hints of ruby. Dark brown colored head, spotty lacing and some ABV legs. Falls to a good collar.
Nose is dark fruits, slight smoke, vanilla, chocolate and roasted grain. Little element of smoke or cigar smoke that makes this a bit odd. Good dark fruit components.
Taste is juicy dark fruits, roasted grain, watery coffee, and tobacco. Kind of in a way a smoked pork. Chewy as in a lot going on up front but overall body wise it is a little watery and kind of Meh. Medium bodied, light carbonation. A lot fo smoke and tobacco in the finish. If this was beefed up a bit more, say to 12% this could be interesting. Wants to work but does not.

Evil twin Brewing’s attempt to create the perfect 10% alcohol beer continue with this offering. It has notes of chocolate, rum, raisin, talcum powder and vanilla in the aroma. The aftertaste is reminiscent of cocoa powder with lots of raisins and alcohol also prominent. The alcohol almost disguises a healthy amount of hops which linger on the tongue as the booze does its work in the throat.

Bottle from Barny’s. Gets good scores, but honestly didn’t see what the fuss was about. Aroma is roast malt, bit of coffee and chocolate and quite a bit of smoke/ashes. Pours black with a creamy tan head which hangs around. Rauch theme continues in taste, but not in a particularly pleasant way - I have come across better attempts at introducing smoke into ISs. Fairly average carbonation and a fairly full body. Overall, a disappointment

Bottle. Pours Black with a thin brown head. Doesn’t leave a ton of lacing in the glass. Has a lot of roasted malt on the nose. Definitely on the drier side with a fair amount of roast on the tongue.Finishes Clean. Hides its booze well. It’s a solid beer but doesn’t strike me as an outstanding one.
