3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Rune (6125) - Tromsø, NORWAY - DEC 29, 2012
Vintage 2011, 10 % abv, kept in the cellar after buying a 330ml bottle at Ølbutikken, Copenhagen over a year ago. Almost jet black body with a deep brownish shade. Dense, rocky fawn-coloured head reduced to a patchy layer. Smell of earth and dark chocolate malts added by a smooth hoppy twist. Fine blended taste of dark chocolate, burned sugar, grain and a drop of vanilla. Roasted bitter endnotes with a hint of coffeee far behind. Dry and soft on the swallow. Masked alcohol and surprisingly easy to drink. Enjoying (Tromsø, 28.12.2012).

Black color with small head that disappers quickly. Aroma of coffee, wood, alcohol, red wine, some sweetness at the end. Taste is light sour , light sweet and coffee bitterness at the end. Thick body , creamy texture and almost no carbonatin. Not sure about this one. It goes well with dark chocolate.

330ml bottle @ Kaisla, Helsinki
Pours pitch black with a tiny bubbly head. Aroma of syrup, roasted malts, molasses, dark chocolate and coffee. Taste is sweet and sticky with some roastiness, syrup, dark chocolate and molasses. Finish is sweet and slightly roasty with some hints of vegetables and chocolate. A bit unbalanced and the vegetable notes are a bit disturbing.

Not a bad beer, but not the best imperial stout I’ve ever come across. Thin in body and flavor, with sharp, fizzy carbonation. Raisin, bitter chocolate, a little bite from roasted malt. A decent beer that’s incredibly overpriced.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 rarbring (659) - Linköping, SWEDEN - DEC 17, 2012
Aroma: Smelling of dark burned bread, dark fruits, figs, coffee and dark chocolate, some vanilla. Appearance: A brown, nay black beer. A low tan head with some lacing and good curtains. Taste: Tasting sweet and dark bread, strong black coffee, blackberry marmalade and licorice. Palate: Low carbonation, a soft, sticky and oily texture. A big body with a long dry finish. Overall: A really, really tempting dark brew. Note: Bottle 330 ml. Reviewed 2012-12-17.
