Bottled. Gushed out of the bottle.. poured medium-deep brown with a towering, but not necessarily long-lived tan head. The aroma picked up warm, roasty coffee, cocoa, and licorice malts with a little toasted wood and near fruity notes around (didn’t quite get there).. somehow soft.. I dug it. The flavor opened with tangy, greener coffee beans, with meatier coffee, blended chocolates, and a hit of licorice behind.. grainy, toasted chocolates amplified by alcohol on the back-end.. long, roasty, belly-warming finish. Medium-plus bodied with very high carbonation on the palate.. a hair salty, and that actually complemented the roasty malts.. excellent brew!

Black with big, fine-bubbled, foamy, brown head / Reserved, musty nose of cigar box, cardboard, and caramel / Medium to full body, some acidity, good balance with dry, lightly bitter finish / Complex, deep flavors of smoke, dark roast coffee, semisweet chocolate, caramel, weed, cigar box, and lemon / All in all, terrific.

Bottle to oversized snifter. Looks good; pitch black and viscous with next to no carbonation or lacing. Smells good too; chocolate, coffee, and malt. Tastes malt and coffee with a good mouthfeel. Another good Evil Twin.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Cybercat (2462) - Georgia, USA - JUN 5, 2012
Comes out of the bottle a rich, warm sable with a thick tan head. Have a nice thirsty towel handy, though - my sample fizzed quite a bit! Smoky aroma has coffee, licorice and chocolate notes plus a curious, though not repulsive, fishy hint. Flavor has typical good notes of semi-sweet chocolate, coffee, molasses and licorice. Texture has firm body and a good amount of fizz, though the tingle does not last long. Overall, not the best Imperial Stout I’ve had, nor Evil Twin’s best - but a respectable stout and worth a purchase.
4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 drpimento (1936) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 1, 2012
Excellent! Opened at a good temperature and it was an enthusiastic gusher!! Poured a colossal, foamy, frothy, fluffy, tan head that settled very slowly. The bottle is about 20% full and is STILL gushing!! Wow. Color is an opaque black brown. Aroma is roast, malt, cocoa, coffee, toffee, vanilla. Flavor’s like nose, smooth, balanced and has a light bittersweet on top cut with perfect carbonic tang. Body is full, lush, round and just right. Finish is like flavor, average length, and has some boozy warmth. Yum! Though I wish more wouldv’e gone into the glass v the sink.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 drowland (4994) - Jacksonville, Florida, USA - MAY 30, 2012
5/30/12. 12oz bottle. Dark black pour with a nice brown head. Slightly tart aroma with chocolate, coffee, and smokey band aids. More tartness and acidity with an even bolder charred/smokey aspect in the flavor. Surprisingly thin mouthfeel. Eh.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 joeneugs (2144) - Livermore, California, USA - MAY 29, 2012
On tap at Livermore Saloon. It pours a very dark brown/black with a nice tan head. The aroma jumps out with big time licorice, toast and a touch of chocolate. The flavor is nicely balanced with toast, licorice, anise, earthy bitterness and a dirty, roasted ashy finish. The body is full, but the beer remains utterly drinkable. Really ,really well done.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 demmbonz (302) - Wisconsin, USA - MAY 26, 2012
Pours with a super thick dark dark brown head. Looks, smells, and tastes like a great imperial. Sweet and bitter. Carbonation bites back a little more than I like but still very good. My first evil twin. Yum.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 GAManiac (1944) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - MAY 12, 2012
Pours pitch black with a small but thick tan head that recedes to a small cap and leaves only spotty lacing.
The aroma is typical Danish impy stout, at least to me, with lots of heavily roasted malts, almost charred really. Some bitter chocolate notes and dark fruit.
Taste mirrors the aroma with tons of roasted malts. Really roasty - espresso mixed with bakers chocolate. Plenty of licorice as well.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with soft carbonation.
I always enjoy these Danish-style stouts but they never really blow me away. Heavily roasted, licorice-heavy, not bad.
