3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Flaske 330ml fra Vinmonopolet Tromsø - Sentrum. Svart. Høyt pent mokkafarget skum som daler salte. Litt lacing. Herlig aroma av lakris og sherry. Oljeaktig munnfølelse. Smaken sjokolade - men blir for syrlig & tørr. Ettersmak av kaffe.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Black with tan head. Roast, spice, floral, banana bread and red berries. Sweet, dry and chocolate milkshake finish. Overall: The title is poetic, and so is the beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma is licorice, roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, sweet malt. Appearance is black, light brown head, poured thick. Taste is roasted malt, licorice, finishes a touch sour for some reason, then coffee and chocolate, smoke. Mouthfeel is medium body, medium carbonation which isn?t that great. Overall, a little disappointing, considering their other stout selection.

Det är nog sympati snarare än besvikelse som känns när något så välgjort och vågat faller på obalanserade smaker. Jag hoppas nånstans att det är mina smaklökar det är fel på den här gången.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark black color with medium brown chocolate milk colored head and little oily lacing. Aroma is sharp with deep fruits, rum, raisins, and fudge. Flavor has rich dark chocolate, creamy smooth, cocoa, roasted malts, and a slightly bitter bite. Mouthfeel is a bit oily, with tingling alcohol presence. Very good!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz bottle. Pours black, brown head, good lacing. Aroma is cereal, chocolate, coffee. Flavor is chocolate, roasted malt, some coffee, licorice, slight booziness. Finish is quite bitter, body is full, slightly creamy and smokey. This one might benefit from sitting in a temperature controlled hotel room in New York City until Christmas Eve to mellow out/come together. Still good, though.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
2015 Bottle. Nose is plums, blackcurrant, dark cherry, licoricem roast, hints of chocolate.
Taste is dark fruits, plums, roast, soy, a touch marzipan, a little bread and hint of mint and herbal hops in the finish. A second mouthful brings forward more of the smokey notes, and a little filter coffee with a heavy dose of licorice in the finish.
Surprisingly thin for the style.
Nice licorice bomb, which never really becomes more than the some of it’s parts.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: FEB 8, 2016 Pours black, opaque, with stable light brown foamy head. Visualy low carbonation with small, slow up rising bubbles.
Aroma: alcohol note is evident, but well hidden behind roasted malt character like coffee, dark chocolate, and behind caramel. Fruity esters are also evident, like dark fruits, reisins etc.
Flavor is very similar: intense, with moderate roasted malt flavor, with strong bittersweet note of dark chocolate, hint of coffee and cocoa. Malt is supported with caramel.
Fruity esters are slightly intensive and they take on dark fruit, like plums and raisins.
Hop bitterness is high, malt sweetness is medium, finish is dry and moderately sweet, slightly warming though alcohol note is not detectable.
Body is full, sticky, smooth, carbonation is low.
